The one-bit design choice really made this work. It felt like an old-school DOS game, which I definitely dig.
As far as it fits the theme... To me, it's an acceptable fit with the prompt of "out of control." It feels like a very literal interpretation, or perhaps a pre-existing idea that had "control" shoehorned into it somewhat. The game boils down to a pedometer.
That being said, that everything came down to the digits above my character's head made me really stop, slow down, and think about what I was doing. Trying to memorize the layouts proved to be a rewarding, chill experience. Except when I was running for a staircase and ran out of steps right in front of it, lol
