Going across lava is easy, just jetpack and kick.

jetpack kick spider tron in the side of the head. you won't fall, even when you stop jetpacking.

That's a hell of a catch, and I can't believe no one has pointed this out sooner. I certainly didn't catch it so kudos to you!
