Cool game! The art looks really nice. I got stuck between platforms at one point, which forced me to restart the game. Not a big deal though since it happened quite early on.

Thank you for playing and letting me know about the bug! I'm not quite sure what caused this, but in my current version updated after the deadline it seems to be fixed.

Im a big fan of Tiki Jump. The game was extremely frustrating, the controls were aggrivating, and the level design made my want to throw my tablet out the window. The feeling I had playing this game was something I have not felt in a very long time, and I thank Tiki Jump for that. Overall, Tiki Jump is an incredible game.

Developer

Thank you for the kind words! I think this game targets a very niche audience who enjoy the feeling of wanting to throw out their tablet, but I am happy to have  accomplished it:D

Really loved the animations and overall style - everything looked great! Jumping between platforms felt a little tricky at times, and it took me a bit to figure out that holding the spacebar longer made me jump higher. It got better once I got the hang of it it felt better, but the game was definitely extremely hard (couldn't get past the first area)! It would be amazing to have different difficulty levels / settings for players like me who need a little extra help.

Developer

Thank you for playing! While I wanted it to be hard and feel a bit frustrating, I agree that I should have added an optional easier version. I plan to update the game after the jam:)

I loved the thematic tiki warrior idea, and the logo is great too! For the gameplay, it's quite unforgiving, but it's really fun to succeed. Congrats on the submission, awesome work!

Really fun game you got there :) The controls are quite unforgiving, but maybe that's the direction you wanted to go.

Nothing like a good rage inducing platformer, haha, loved it. Fun game. Good job!

unfortunately is flagging as virus for some reason :(

Developer

That's bad :( Do you know what the reason for this might be? I saw the warning about not embedding the pck file, so I didn't embed it. Other then that I just used the default options.

Developer

I managed to get a working web version, I would be happy if you want to give it another try :)

I got to the fire tiki and the web version works great! The art looks fantastic did you do it yourself? As someone who has played jump king this whole aesthetic might be better suited for this gameplay! The whole stance and climbing the trees and cave were super crisp and makes a lot of sense.

I do think the game is too difficult (and not from lack of trying). Unless im just bad. I got pretty far in jump king but had to call it quits after 45 minutes still stuck in this cave section. You dont wanna know how many times I slid back down. Its a tuff balance though cause the reward is why people play games like these. As someone who has platinumed all the from software games like dark souls I truly get it. But for a jam it may be hard to get that kind of audience. So I would make it a whole lot easier! Perhaps getting rid of some of the cave jumping slopes that take you to square one. Or adding ui to be able to tell how much your jump is charged. Expesially make it so when you player does get stunned its shorter. This added a lot to the degradation of my will to complete it lol

Also I would add a fullscreen button to the web version. Also add screenshots! That way people can appreciate places they might not have the skill to get to. Also seeing more content will make them more motivated to start the game and continue it!  Would be such a shame if more people didnt play this with how much work you clearly put into it

But regardless this is a great entry with a very unique vibe great work!

Thank you so much for the feedback! Yes together with a friend we made our own art for the game, glad you like it :)

You are right about the difficulty. I underestimated how much practice I got during development and knowing how every jump is supposed to be done. The cave is definitely the hardest part and besides reducing the stun time, I think I should also reduce how fast the player gets stunned sliding down the slope.

I will make an update for the game after the voting, including a fullscreen button (ah i just saw that I can enable it in itch.io, thanks for the tip) and some other features I didn't have the time to implement.
