damn, you really SLAYed with this game
people should asSPIRE to make stuff like this!
but legit, no joke, a lot fun! i just got stuck playing this, love it!
Joms.
But seriously, very good deck battler for such a short jam, the cards feel satisfying to move around and play. The art and sfx work really well together to build the spooky atmosphere.
I managed to beat the regular difficulty fairly easily with mouse popping off but on the hardest one I barely survived the 2nd to last enemy and then the final one demolished me. I'm hoping Connor gets baited to play the hardest difficulty and loses too XD
Thanks for playing! Glad you enjoyed!
Can't really have an opinion on this one, cuz I don't play card games and don't know what makes them tick.
But I liked a lil dark and a lil unhinged art style/sound design.
YO this is really good, it scratches that deck builder itch. 😁 I'd love to see a full version of this! You clearly have focused on what was important to make the game fun and playable in the short time (I hear you got sick, I hope you feel better soon!). I kinda love the ms paint drawings anyways lol.
I did find the most difficult setting a little impossible, but I was trying very hard to get mouse her plasma so maybe thats why. I think the enemy just before mouse ramps up their damage a little too fast perhaps? Or maybe I just need to git gud 😫
Also, I'm mad that I've made a progression/map like yours before, for a previous jam, and didn't think to pre-make it as a set map. I built a whole randomiser for the jam, where I could of done something else with the time😭so well done for not doing that...
Thanks for playing! Yeah i didnt have a ton of time to balance and didnt have any playtesters (which is why the difficulties exist in the first place) so yeah I could see how that enemy might scale a little too fast (especially since nothing tells you its getting stronger). Also im a lot less sick now thanks! yeah ive tried to set up a randomized one and it was rough before so i thought id just try skip it this time lol
pretty cool! some charm to the aesthetic. cdawg difficulty did get a laugh out of me, it'd be great to get the streamer reaction on that. the default viewport is weirdly small and messes with the ui, i'm surprised no one has mentioned this so it could just be me.... but if it isn't i feel like you could just set a better standard viewport? idk how it works...
thought well drawn henya meant card drawn and not, art drawn, and that was a little amusing to find out. biblical sunflower greed was fun joke though besides the greed part i kinda feel like the ability could've been more, aligned to what sunflowers even do (having too much of something?)
pretty impressive system though. the movement with the cards was slick but in future you might wanna be careful about how the overlapping cards can cover part of the text on the one you're looking at, wasn't an issue at this scale but idk it was on my mind. the lose screen is funny.
my toopid brain kinda glazed over the "x damage, x times" texts partly because the tiny viewport cut part of it off but also because i hadn't intuited what it meant, my brain can be a bit slow without icons. is there an incentive to ever skip the cards? maybe if the buff is specific to another card you don't use so you'd rather not skew the rng? but idk i didn't get that.
oh interesting sorry to hear the viewport got messed up for you! I didn’t have a ton of time to test it either different monitors so I guess something went wrong there my bad! Ah well the biblical greed was meant to basically be a high risk high reward card since that pretty much what 3 rows of sunflowers is lol. Ok gotcha next time till have the cards spread out a bit more! Skipping cards was just an option if you wanted to avoid filling your deck up with too many cards (which is usually something you have to play around in other deck builders) probably since the game is so short it doesn’t become a useful mechanic. Thanks for playing!
yeah idk i think i have a normal screen?? it's fine when i set it to fullscreen i just don't automatically set these games to fullscreen and didn't realize at first that i should change it. here's how it looked in my browser.
ah ok well im glad it worked in full screen at least! My best guess is just that a lot of the objects arent UI except for the health bar and the incoming damage text which i likely forgot to set their anchors and to have their scale not change with resolution. I probably only tested in the fullscreen which is why I didnt notice my bad! Thanks for pointing that out ill make sure that doesnt happen in my future games!
I really like this game! The vibes are on point, the world map gives a classic feeling of going on an adventure,
and the strategy aspect makes it fun and interactive in a way that's makes it feel rewarding.
Thanks for playing and for the feedback! Glad you enjoyed!
3 Gigachad Petes, the only true way to crush the final boss...

In all seriousness though, I must've played through this game like 50 times now! I never really knew that these kinds of games existed before this, am now going down the rabbit hole of deckbuilder games.
I'm just so inspired by your game that I'm going to make my own deckbuilder game now.
glad to hear you are enjoying it! Yeah it’s a super fun genre and good luck on your game!
It's out here if you want to check it out, I ended up making a Bâan fangame:
https://tokyofrequency.itch.io/baan-rinradas-mystical-departure
I had to take out the random card loot and just give fixed loot at certain points
as it felt like it was hard to balance it properly with the weakness system I implemented.
But I still think this genre has a lot of potential and will be playing with some more of these mechanics in my next game.
never played slay the spire, but if it’s just half as good as this game then I’m missing out a lot XD
well done!
There are a lot of great deckbuilding games! I would highly recommend Slay the Spire or Inscription! Glad you enjoyed and yes slay the spire is definitely better than my little game lol
I like Slay the Spire like games :D
Thanks for playing! Me too :)
Beat easy mode first try, then jumped into regular mode, pacing felt on point (which is hard to nail)! Really creative ideas packed into this game. Love the sound effects and art, they really bring it to life!
Thanks for playing! Glad to hear it was well paced I did my best to emulate slay the spire and wildfrost fight lengths so I'm luckily thats seems to have paid off!
Oh there's some really neat ideas in here! I liked being able to over-heal/pre-heal, and I liked having to work to keep my pals alive (until I Biblical Greeded them to death lol.) Very fun!
Thanks for playing. Im glad you enjoyed!
Great game! I had fun with it.
A bit hard to get into at first but was able to understand quickly. Was able to defeat normal mode on my first try. May return to this game for hard mode 😆
The gameplay itself got a good bit of variety to it and some good amount of strategic depth, so I like that. The metagame map is also pretty cool, but some events just give you a straight rare cards haha. I understand it might not have been in the scope of a game jam to expand the events further.
I love the chunky fighting sound effects. Art is ok overall. The game lags a bit for me on some section, like the difficulty selection screen. Some of the cards also got their stats number mixed up, so I was always a bit confused of what stats a card supposed to have. having icons next to the numbers would have been nice.
Overall I thought this was a really solid entry. Great job!
Thanks for playing! Glad to hear it wasnt too complicated. Yeah the event / non combat spaces are just cards you cant get anywhere else because i didnt have time for a shop or random events, ect. Ah yeah I reused one of my old Unity URP shader graphs for that scene which was likely not well made and was probably too resource intensive (i think i also used it a bit in the combat scene and the lose game scene). Yeah I need to find a system for adding symbols into text that would have def help with that! Thanks for the feedback!
Super fun game. I'm really bad at card games like those but this one is simple and easy enough. Love that it's not overcomplicated lol Could spend quite a lot of time here lol
Thanks for playing! im glad you enjoyed! I tried my best not to make too many mechanics to avoid over complication!
Really like the pal system, it has a lot of potential to expand on the interactions with the pals, like giving them "friendship" mechanics that buff the neighbors, giving them "buffs" like hats and such. very nice!
Yeah there's a lot you can do with the system! Games like wildfrost and inscription do it wonderfully which is what inspired me to make this game!
Good job! The 3 slots to place new pals or buff existant ones are a good idea, I liked that.
Thanks for playing! Glad you enjoyed!
Good game, I liked the idea of some cards. The hard mode almost made me lose, I really underestimated. great job!
Very fun! i I killed so many henyas NotLikeThis
This is an actually solid card rogelike playloop. The feeling of "holding" cards and the effects are great, it's an extremely good feeling for a jam.
Thanks for playing! I'm glad to hear that!
OMG, Is this inspired by Inscryption?!! Love this game, absolutely 5/5
Yup its inspired by both inscription and wildfrost! Thanks for playing!
My turn, draw, Monsutaa kaaddo! This game will make you feel like a duelist with spikey hair.
Glad you enjoyed!
Really fun game and replayable game, good art and music, good job, I had fun and I won after a second try!
Thanks for playing!
