Last Breath of Harmony | TBS/Visual Novell (?) | 18+ (gore, partial nudity) | Characters design phase

I've always been embarrassed to show off my creations, but I decided to create a devlog to structure my thoughts and ideas, as well as keep a report for myself. But if you're suddenly interested, I'm always happy to communicate, discuss and feedback.

Basic info:

Title name - Last breath of harmony.

* Game genre: Visual novel/ turn-based strategy. So far, it's more of a hobby project that I do after work and on weekends for myself.

* Setting - Dark/Splatter fantasy - guts, gore and revolution.

* The battle scenes will be in style of fire emblem/gemfire in the form of 5x5 or 5x1 battles (in boss fights). on 10*10 squares battlefield with some strategy mechanics. The stats of the game characters will be constant, which is justified by the lore of the game - events take place within 1-2 weeks, there is no time to grind the experience. The stats of AI-controlled characters will change to moderate difficulty and lore twists.

* The dialogues will be in the spirit of JRPG in the form of a portrait (not anime)+text in the dialog box, on the background of the game graphics. Cutscenes will be made on the game graphics.

* The turning points will be in styled as cutscene illustrations (fortunately, I have a good designer).

* TRL - Just started. So far i wrote about 90 pages of script, composed about 15 music themes and have all of characters concept and lore in my head (10\35 is drawn by my designer friend).

Deeper concept in message below.

Harmony Island is a place where a fragile dystopian world is balanced between six neighborhoods. Under the rule of the king, it seems that the island is thriving, but ambitions, secret deals and a thirst for change are bubbling under the surface, invisible to the eye of the Royal Guard.

Ore and diamonds are mined in the Mines of the Crown, young magicians are trained at the Mage Academy, weapons and armor are forged in the Royal Forge, the Jaeger Grove cares the grove for royal hunts and farming animals for food, and the Merchant Guild manages the flow of wealth. This balance is about to collapse, opening the way to chaos, and a new, terrifying era. There is only one small (chemical) element left.

There will be a total of 4 paths and 6 playable factions (5 main characters each)

These main characters will be in the game both under your command and as your opponents, depending on the choice of your faction.

And for every fight with such an opponent, I decided to make a signature battle encounter music theme.

I will introduce you to the Factions and it'a characters as they are drawn. And 1st introduction will be below.

Faction: Mines of the Crown

Range Unit - Stoner

More than just a cynical advisor to the mines manager Cyida, Stoner is the cunning mind she plucked from the obscurity of the mining ranks. He traded his pickaxe and grime-stained overalls for a formal shirt and the  quill, but the soul of a miner runs deep within him. His wit is as sharp as the grappling hooks he mastered in mines, and when the call to battle echoed through the Harmony Island, he found his weapon not in a forged blade, but in the humble sling. After all, in the mines, stones  is the one thing they have in abundance.

Support Unit - Becklaria

A recent graduate of the Mage Academy, Becklaria is an alchemist who defies every expectation. You won't find her casting flashy fireballs or conjuring illusions. While her peers reveled in overt magic, she found her calling in the whispered language of reagents and the meticulous science of alchemy, often laboring alone in the academy's forgotten basements. Her magnificent, heavy cloak—reminiscent of a flying squirrel's wings—is not a mere garment; it is her portable laboratory, its linings stuffed with vials and instruments of her trade. Driven by a quiet intellect and the resilience of one perpetually underestimated, she seeks to prove her worth. Her reasons for aligning with the rough miners of the Crown, however, are a story for another time... another reveal.. a story written in chemical equations and upheaval.

And here is their Battle Encounter theme.

PS. Sry for my English, not my native language.

Next reveal:

Tank Unit - Guardevour

Guardevour is the strongest man in the mines. Everyone perceived him as an older brother, albeit a little narrow-minded. He was the one who moved the ill-fated boulder in the mine and released the gas. His closest friend, Kraytor, reluctantly ordered the first group of miners to be stoned, where Guardevour was. But with remarkable strength, he got out from under the rubble. He was exposed to the gas more than the rest of the miners, as it was uncontrollable. For this reason, he mutated more than the others, and his intelligence, which was already small, became at the level of a small child. A child of great strength with painful tentacles.

Melee Frontline Unit - Kraytor

Kraytor is a senior miner. The shift supervisor is the one who leads the miners into the depths of the diamond mines. When Becklaria came up with the ideal formula for gas to transform into gasmorphs, he was the first to try it (albeit not entirely of his own free will). He is now a soulless front-line fighting machine, but he is still loyal to the mine manager Cyida. He still has a cylinder behind his shoulders, but not with oxygen for breathing in the mine as before, but with gas to enhance his own abilities.

An update about the Mines of Crown will be released soon. And the biography of Cyida's character, too.

For now - a presentation of the new faction with some fragments of the artistic process carried out by my designer.

So well.. The last playable member of the Mines of Crown..

Comman Unit - Cyida

She's a mine manager - but some call her the "diamond queen" because of her sick obsession with diamonds.

Cyida believes that the miners have the dirtiest jobs on Harmony Island, and the crown heavily underpays the miners who mine gold and diamonds in the mines. To compensate for underpayments to her employees, she conducts underground resource smuggling with the help of Guildmaster Gustav-Graves.  Cyida knows better than anyone what it means to grow up in poverty in a mining family. And that just one diamond can decide a person's fate and future, as happened in her family.

After the events of the prologue, Cyida leads a squad of gas-morph miners forward to retaliation! And they consider her their matriarch, their "Diamond Queen"!

Cyida's battle music theme will be ready later, but for now, but here's the theme music from the end of the Mines of Crown campaign.

PS. New faction portraits and YT cover are ready! The Merchant Guild will be revealed soon!

New faction reveal: The Merchant Guild!

Tank Unit - Jay Wakker

Jay Wakker is a former guardsman. He realized that he had no place among idle young soldiers, and the drill of Colonel Karmian and Captain Viatrass bored him. Patrols and marches don't make good money, and the fact that he's one of the most talented solider doesn't affect his income.

The cunning guildmaster Gustav-Graves spotted Jay and offered the vacant place as his bodyguard. Since then, Wakker has been plagued by doubts - on the one hand, good money and no boring military service, on the other, he does not quite agree with the methods of the Merchant Guild. He may have a skull with coins on his shield now, but the crown of the Royal Guard still rests under this paint.

Melee Frontline Unit - Raze-Cut

Raze-Cut is a symbol of the merciless methods of the Merchant Guild and the greed of the guildmaster. Instead of the Royal Guards offered to Gustav-Graves by the king, he bought out a bunch of pirates who were sentenced to be hanged on other islands. Raze-Cut is one of them. A thug convicted of piracy, robbery, and mass murder is now the guildmaster's personal enforcer.

For him, there are no concepts of honor and pity, in general, he is not even very hungry for profit. The main salary for him is unpunished cruelty, the proximity of danger and adrenaline. His family died of typhus, he himself was bought out from the gallows - there is nothing left to lose and he goes his own carnage road.

Range Unit - Emily Nelson

Not much is known about her. She says she lost an eye while boarding a merchant ship, although rumors in her home port say that her father knocked out her eye when she was a child. She is cold and bloodthirsty, but perhaps hiding insecurity and resentment behind a mask of rudeness and feigned confidence, she, same as Raze-Cut, was bought out from the gallows, before the execution of the death sentence.

Support Unit - Brad'o'Bread

Fresh produce, great food, the best and healthiest - but only for the guildmaster.

For the rest, he cooks whatever he has to: rotten meat, leftovers, sometimes even carcasses that he stole from the battlefield (he considers it a delicacy).

He was once a chef on the Duke's frigate on one of the islands. But a virus, after cooking a delicacy of bats, clouded his mind. After a couple of dishes of dead sailors, he was ignominiously dismissed and sentenced to the gallows. Well, then Gustav-Graves appeared..

Comman Unit - Guildmaster Gustav-Graves

The real Triple G. Cunning, unscrupulous, ready to do anything for the sake of profit and economy (except saving on his safety). A skilled trader, a sea wolf, devoted to the crown and the island of Harmony - his image is for all residents and the king. A dirty crook, a smuggler, a traitor - for everyone else, this is a real Gustav-Graves.  He and his team of thugs skillfully maneuver between unjustified cruelty and treachery and the image of law-abiding sailors.

New Faction Reveal - Mages Academy

Tank Unit - Armagard

Armagard is the best blacksmith of armor on Harmony Island. He and his brother, the weaponsmith Avengard, have been inseparable since childhood. But everything has changed since Becklaria and Raval needed guinea pigs for their experiments with gas. For these reasons, a caravan of blacksmiths traveling to the mines was captured.. and then..

I plan to post more often, so if it's not difficult, what would you like to see: The process of writing music? The drawing process? My attempts to learn how to code? Something hot from the art? Plot development of the script?

Sry for delay again! Here is new battle theme music and bios for characters.

Support Unit - Rouche Adonio.

Rouche is young gloomy magician who since childhood, he was a thin, shy boy and was bullied by other children. When he grew up, he passed the exams at the Мagic Academy and chose force protection as his magic profile to learn protect himself. After completing his studies, he continued his development under the strict guidance of Professor Raval. And in the end Rouche Adonio became a dean of "Defensive and Protective Sciences" profile in Academy. Now he shares his experience with new young boys and girls who have decided to choose this discipline as their main one. The events on the island will make him test the power of his defenses.

Melee Frontline Unit - Clyve de Breach.

Clyve is an unsurpassed master of the magic blade and dean of this profile in Academy.

His father was a scout guardsman and little Clyve always sat with him when father cleaned and sharpened his blade. When the "War of the Lost Isles" began, mr. de Breach, like the rest of the Royal Guards, went there. But, unfortunately, he did not return from a distant island, like many guardsmans.  Only the blade that Clyve cleaned and sharpened with his father returned... When Clyve grew up, he passed exams to join the Mages Academy,  and after learning special techniques, he empowered the father's blade with magic and developed his own techniques of "flying blade".
