I gotta share my creation I’m quite proud of - it’s -187. Despite the game claiming it’s prime (I think it’s a bug for numbers lower than -100), it is actually -1x11x17. Combining diagonal star + freeze egg, it fills everything in 3x3 area with its frozen copies. People have been saying how nice 77 and -77 are, but for me this one was the most game breaking. Its ability to infiltrate into enemy territory and just take up space is second to none.

hey author, i truly love the concept of this game and i wanted to ask you something

so basically i know coding is hard, and texturing everything in the game might be tedious, especially when there needs to be a texture for basically every stone from 0-100 and more, so i wanted to ask if you would want help with the textures, because it's holiday and i'm just...bored :v

and i've been sitting in the pool thinking stuff when i took a sketchbook and i drew what everything would look like for this game, the gems, GUI, only... the people/humans would be hard to do ;w;

but basically i wanted to ask if you would want help in texturing the game because even if the current textures took some time to do (because they definitely did), they kinda look like placeholders... so yeah i'm here if you would want to reach out or something idk

I'm pretty happy with the gem designs, but I'd be curious to see what ideas you had, and I do want to reskin the GUI eventually.

You should add some kind of almanac (not the deck menu type) that's basically an almanac of all stones from 1 to 100, the special stones (negative 1, 0, x, mirrorstone) and the tools plus maybe some the stones after 100.

The almanac should also have some kind of unlock-to-view thing. I'd say that all non-composite stones get unlocked in the almanac when you get them (e.g. you can view 13 in the almanac when you beat the 13-prime master) and composite stones get unlocked when you craft them. (e.g. you can view 6 after you create the 6-gem, by merging a 2 and 3 gem together)

Also, the fact that 23 is rock and by merging it with 2 makes it become 46, which seems to be some kind of flat rock. If you do so again, you get 92, which is a paper airplane, quite funny I'd say. The evolution is so random.

I'm not sure if anyone's pointed this out, but is the 89-master's dialogue "Great card" "thanks!" a misparsed "Great card, thanks!"? The capitalization and punctuation seem off based on the other Prime Masters.

Factoring some negative numbers (e.g. -187) causes the game to crash.

 Also, it might be nice to have the hammer and chisel added to this game.

can you mark the windows build as compatible with windows? otherwise itch desktop doesn't let us download it

Does the AI actually learn? Back then, I could beat 100 freely but now it feels completely impossible.

Like, it now knows how to counter like 2 thirds of my moves.

It keeps beating me by like 3 to 5 points.

I changed the 100 deck to be tougher in a recent update. (I also made small changes to the game's AI, but it shouldn't affect 100 much.)

slight visual bug?

When you hover over the first card in your deck, sometimes it says “View your deck” instead of saying what the first stone does. This is annoying

I managed to get stones over 100 before even reaching the 97 bossfight. It was very difficult but did you really have to make it require luck?

if u concede after u lost a match in the tournment, it counts as that match and the next match lost

spoiler I feel like the tweezers item just lets you grind for stones in the sandbox, which I don't really like. I suggest either rebalancing or removing this item.

Sorry for not responding, I couldn't figure out the key either. Please just use rot-13 or spoiler boxes. I will be fixing 65's sprite eventually.

Ah, okay. I may have fixed this already, I will check and fix if needed in the next update.

my browser (Brave) is not saving my save data when i leave the page

Save data is saved in the path  "idbfs/Strategems". Maybe you have high-privacy browser settings set to wipe this data when closing your browser? Have other browser-based Unity games been saving fine for you?

(For me, using a Private Window in Firefox results in new save files which last for only that window, so it may be something similar to that.)

I figured it out. As I suspected, I just had to turn off shields

Bugs:

  • This bug report I posted separately: "Bug - game explodes when playing X-cost card on 0 energy remaining"
  • In this screenshot I somehow hold what's probably a 37-card, but it's marked as costing 7 but can't be played even though I have 34 energy remaining. I assume what happend here is that the boss transformed one of my special cards (X-cost or calculator) into a 37, and that messed up the game.
  • When refreshing the game (in browser) via F5, it defaults to selecting deck A, even if my last battle was with deck C selected.

The first 2 are intended behavior (INPUT_1.0 canonically has a single-digit display), the third I will plan on fixing next update. (Need to add new variable to save files.)

I've now played through the game, 100%ing it except for the Efficient achievement (reach the tournament in 20 matches) which seems pretty impossible on Hard.

It was a great game, so kudos for making it. Could well be/become a commercial title.

I have a whole bunch of additional feedback (incl. bug reports), but I can't copy & paste it here into the itch.io text editor because it's full of imgur links which I can't prevent from being turned into embedded images. Do you happen to have an email address or something where I could send the feedback instead?

PS: Fair enough re: the X-cost card explosion thing. I do recommend making the game fail state more obvious, though, because players can't really distinguish between "this is a clever intentional fail state" and "this random web app just froze".

Thanks! You can send it to hoffman.jeremy##@gmail.com   where ## is the card that burns a tile and also removes all burn and freeze from the board.

FWIW when testing Efficient I finished Hard in 17 or 18 matches in just one try... though that was a few years ago. Tip: If you can solve battle 5 right off the bat, it should be reasonable. (But not easy!) Note that puzzle battles do not count toward your total.

Good point about the explosion, I'll see about adding some more visual effects, maybe some dust or something.

Re: the explosion, the animation is fine - slightly unconventional, but fine. The thing that tripped me up was that the white screen afterwards is blank and thus easily confused with the web equivalent of a bluescreen. It would be much clearer if there was a classic video-game-esque "You Died" or "Game Over" or a skull image or something, ideally with a button prompt ("press Esc/F5") since most player inputs don't do anything in this game state. Or if that seems too gimmicky, anything but a static and monocolored screen would be preferable.

Hello creator! I’m just wanting to tell you that 37 is a little difficult. The problem is that if you discard a card with it that got changed with a 37 it will come back even if your opponent doesn’t even play one and also just ruins 3 or any card that does it, which is confusing and a little unfair. I hope with this you can make it a little easier.

I will consider making it a bit easier, perhaps reducing how many copies of 37 they have. That said: if you find the right deck you should have no trouble.
