what should i use to make platformer game

im first on here (for development) and i'm going to make games

can you help me to what should i use?

If you want to just make 2D games without learning to need to write code, I've heard that Construct (Do know that Construct does not have a great free plan) is a good no-code engine for 2D. If you're fine with learning to code, you might want to use GameMaker or Godot (Godot is probably better than GameMaker). Or, if you think you might want to expand your skills to 3D, you can use Unity. And, from my experience, do not, under any circumstance, use GDevelop. For art, I recomend doing pixel art as it is the cheapest to make since their are free programs for it. If you want to make pixel art for free, I recomend Pixelorama. But, if you want to spend $20 USD, go with Aseprite. I don't really know what to do about music, but for sound effects, you can make your own with bfxr, or download some from Freesound and edit them in Audacity (Click download without Musehub). That should be it for the programs. I can see how this is a little overwhelming, so just start off with learning to code the game, use assets for art, and then go from there.

I’ve had ‘okay’ experiences with GDevelop, but I can’t fully disagree. Biggest issue for me was the inconsistent performance of GDevelop games across computers (for example, a computer twice as powerful might run a game at half the framerate, with little explanation).

I found it annoying that in none of the tutorials do they talk about external events, which should be used from the beginning, even though the only way to share code throughout multiple scenes is through external events.

I’d recommend GDevelop or Construct 3, for a browser engine to make platforming games.

Both have their strengths and weaknesses (I think I’d go Construct 3 for a professional project).

I have experience with GDevelop, it's terrible. All scripting is done on a per scene basis, so it is very hard to make a scaleable game, especially as a beginner. There are some very important things you must do early on in the project to make it easy to add more than one level.
