End life plan
The game - and all my games - will always be accessible in as many ways as possible.

Making a browser/internet-dependent version may seem counter-intuitive to the cause, but it ensures that as long as itch.io is up and running, Obsoletion can be played anywhere on any device - making the game accessible to a larger audience who doesn't have access to a PC.

In addition to the web version, Obsoletion can be downloaded for Windows, Linux, and Mac. Should either or both of these options fail, all my work is archived in multiple locations ready to be shared at any time! :-)

Transparency note
Everything in this game from art to code was completed during the course of the jam - save for a single audio track I made roughly a year ago (and a few sounds I sourced online).

Had to go back and "double-check" the final decision there lol Cool stuff!

WOW! Insane ending, love it love it! Great art to go along with it as well.

Developer

Wow, thanks so much! Happy to hear you enjoyed it!

I really liked the art style! It's very good, nice game overall. Keep it up!

Nice story and ending btw

Developer(+1)

Thank you!! Very glad to hear you enjoyed it :-)

SPOILER WARNING: Don't read unless you've played!
The ending really re-contextualized the main menu for me. There was no new game, I initially thought because in the game we are narratively at the point of no return. No retrying, no starting over, just moving forward, only able to continue from where Avan is now. But seeing the meta reason, that we are continuing the save of the nameless gamer within the game?? Amazing work. You're a really good writer.

Developer

Wow, thanks for the nice comment! As soon as the idea came to me I knew I had to contribute something! Glad to know the point I was making landed, and I’m happy to hear you enjoyed the game! :-)

Looks amazing, ending was a chef's kiss.

Developer(+1)

Thanks! The moment the idea came to me I really thought I was cooking - glad to know I was onto something! :-)

Submitted(+1)

That was really unexpected. I thought I was making an important decision, and the game cut me off like that :)
I really enjoyed the writing and backgrounds look really nice, and it fits the theme on at least two levels of the narrative.

Developer(+1)

Glad you enjoyed the concept! The moment I saw the jam’s theme, the idea came to me so I knew I had to get started! Doing that initial hallway background made me realize I could totally expand into sci-fi stuff…I found it way easier to draw than a forest LMAO </3 Thanks for the nice comment! :-)

Love the art a lot, and the ending caught me off guard lol , nice interpretation on the theme, well done.

Developer

Thank you! Originally I was going for a pixelated look but I liked the art too much to take away from the detail </3 Glad you enjoyed!

Loved the story and visuals! Good work! :D

Developer

Thanks for the nice comment, glad you enjoyed my lil game!!! :-)

Loved your take on the concept! :D Great presentation, visuals complement the story perfectly. Super clean 4th wall break too - I personally love that kind of stuff haha Sounds like I’ll probably enjoy your other games too, I’ll be sure to give them a look ;)

Congrats!

Developer(+1)

Weren’t ours funnily similar? Great minds think alike y’know! :-) I love freaky 4th wall stuff too - I saw the jam’s theme and KNEW that was the route I had to take! As for my other games, I hope you enjoy them! If you play Divine Omen, you’ll certainly recognize the main character. I toss him into all of my projects just to torture him a little more. I know that guy hates my guts </3

Submitted

That sounds super fun! I love reusing characters in different games too - not necessarily to torture them though haha poor guy

I’ll definitely give Divine Omen a look! Also of my games I would recommend You’re Next, it’s pretty text heavy but based on the stuff you make I think you would enjoy it :D

Great story and story telling and the ending is just the icing on top!

Awesome game, can't praise it enough!

Developer(+1)

So glad you enjoyed my silly little game! I think I’ve already said it in a comment before this one, but I’m an artist/writer above all else - so I tend to really fixate on those aspects of my games. Thrilled to hear it paid off! :-)

Really well done!

Developer

Thank you! :-) I only got a few days with it due to work, so I’m glad it turned out entertaining!

Anything for you bestie <3

Personally, I’m not a huge fan of visual novel games, but I really enjoyed this entry both visually and in terms of the story

Developer

Funnily enough, I was never a huge VN fan myself since they’re mostly fanservice stuff or romance based - not for me. Turns out I just needed to add a spooky twist to appreciate the genre :-) Thanks and I’m glad you enjoyed the game!

art is very good :)

Developer

Thank you! I’m an artist before all else so I tend to prioritize visuals :-)
