omg you are so dumb...

did you know that games, that are supposed to take some control of your system is already malware-like behavior? That's game mechanic, lol. All it can do - some manipulations with desktop image and maybe with you username or smth. I've thought that everybody already got it, but little babies will always be there... Lol.

No. Everything about this reply is wrong. First off, yes, but even games like KinitoPET which also have the ability to take control of your system and "pretend" that it's a virus by doing the things you mentioned still show up as clean in virus total because they still are not TRUE VIRUSES. If something shows up in virus total like THAT, it is most certainly unsafe, and I would not recommend installing it.

dumb

The "Trojan.Generic.35250501" alert you're seeing while playing Mr. TomatoS likely stems from the nature of the game itself, which is designed to act as if it's corrupting your system for entertainment purposes.

Here's why you're encountering this alert:

  • Mimicking Malware: Mr. TomatoS, especially in its corrupted form, is designed to simulate a computer infection. This includes displaying fake error messages indicating file deletion or system takeovers, according to Villains Wiki.
  • False Positive: Your antivirus software detects these simulated actions as potentially malicious, leading to the "Trojan.Generic.35250501" alert. This is often a false positive, meaning the software incorrectly identifies a harmless program as a threat.
  • Safety of the Game: The creators of Mr. TomatoS confirm that the game is not a virus and does not actually harm your computer or delete your files, according to posts in the Mr.TomatoS community on itch.io.
  • Source of Download: Downloading the game from the official itch.io page is generally considered safe. However, downloading it from unofficial or untrustworthy websites could increase the risk of malware.

In summary, the "Trojan.Generic.35250501" alert is most likely a false positive triggered by Mr. TomatoS's intentional simulation of a system infection for gameplay purposes. As long as you downloaded the game from a legitimate source, it is likely safe to continue playing. However, if you have any doubts, you can always run a full system scan with your antivirus software for peace of mind.
