This is a fun concept. I really like gameplay where you have to go through a series of tasks to complete something and I think this game does that pretty effectively with the player having to prepare the soup. My only complaint is I wish you didn't have to constantly cut through the crowd to do the tasks, I wish they were all on the same side. Similar to others, I had a bit of difficulty picking up and putting down objects at times. But aside from that, I really enjoyed this entry, great work!

Creative Vision / Rationale / How Did You Incorporate the Theme
We built a game around Generosity by structuring the player's goals around providing soup for NPCs, and featuring 'narrative moments of connection with strangers in an unlikely situation' as the game's main content. Where possible, the 'rewards' for this generosity are non-direct; a gift in kind, not always given: a decoration, seasoning to improve the soup, a conversation. Ultimately the game is intended to be about the idea that even in the afterlife, it's never too late to start being generous.

I really like the concept of this game, and also liked the simplicity of all the mechanics! It made me really happy to see other spirits take soup as they passed by, and also enjoyed listening to their stories.
I did have some issues with picking and putting down objects. At the very start I picked up the spoon and couldn't put it down again - had to restart due to that. Then later on, I set the spoon down next to the pot and found that I couldn't pick it back up. Regardless of that, I still enjoyed the game a lot!
Oof, I’m sorry about the restarts! I really wanted to implement some preview/UI of ‘the object you’ll pick up if you press e’ and ‘where the object you’re holding will end up if you press e, and if that position seems occluded’, and of course to tune the various hitboxes to make them less likely to conflict, but ran out of time :/. it’s top of the list to fix once the rating period’s over.
Thank you for playing and sticking with it anyway! I’m really glad you enjoyed seeing the spirits take soup; immersing the player in the experience of watching the procession move by, and in your own small way improving the experience of those within it, was the guiding light of the project.
Actually felt like it was very well put together under 30 hours! I had a good time :). The only thing that slightly felt off were the WASD movements, but that's just my personal preference.
Really glad you liked the story and characters!
I think simple mechanics was a really useful choice for us here – cutting any sense of making the game challenging really helped with the short dev time, and let us focus on that polish… and for me the challenge of generosity/volunteering/etc. in the real world has never been that the act itself is difficult, but that it can be hard to carve out the time and find/build the infrastructure required to do good!
Thanks so much for playing and commenting, and congrats on getting to the end!
A very nice game and story. I like how you incorporated the theme.
I had some difficulty at first with the e button, maybe I was pressing it too quickly, but sometimes the input just wouldn't work...
But the art and the story are beautiful and nice, good work to everyone who made it.
(That's a lot of work for only 30 hours, congrats!)
Some other testers have mentioned it being hard to pick up certain things – definitely could configure the hitbox better there, and make it more obvious when you can interact with something vs. when you can’t! Some tuning of that will definitely be on the task list once the rating time’s over.
Really glad you enjoyed the art and story! And haha yeah it was definitely a wild dev period, but we had to try. Thanks for playing and commenting!
Interesting idea, I liked the overall look of the game, the colors, lighting effects, and opacity on the ghosts and fog made it very atmospheric. It would have been nice to have some sounds and music to extend the atmosphere further, but pretty good for only 24 - 30 hours of work!
The theme and art are done very well, I like the procession of souls watching me stir my soup :)
Cute game! I would have loved some spooky sound to go with it if you're looking for things to add in the future.
Thanks so much for playing, glad you enjoyed! The procession as a constant dynamic feature was a goal of the design, so, glad that worked out!
You’re so right about the sounds; a list of basic sfx was at the bottom of the to-do list for the whole dev time. Definitely something I’d add once the rating period’s over; I’d really like to actually make some soup and record the sounds of that process. Thanks again!
