Description
Beyond the Glade takes place in a small village and its surroundings. A small child seeks to explore beyond the glade. Finding an opportunity, they slip past the elders and get a sweet taste of the outside (01-Beyond These Glades).
As they travel farter, the child comes across a stranger (02-Stranger Danger). Lost in the woods, the child wearily approaches. The stranger offers their help to find the way home.
Something feels wrong. The child is sure this can't be the way...
Hours later, they wake up in some kind of encampment. Scared and alone, they seek an opportunity to escape, dodging the perils, traps and guards surrounding the encampment. (03-Beyond Help)
Finally, the child escapes and reaches the gate to their home! They no longer feel trapped, but safe with their family! (04-Reprieve)
Theme

How does it fit the theme?
Explores a journey whereupon a child —in their pursuit for freedom from their village— gets trapped. Throughout their journey, they discover that their village wasn't such a prison after all, and they can finally feel free at home.

nicely done overall — i really loved "Beyond These Glades" and how adventurous yet calming the track was. very fitting for the story you came up with your soundtrack concept! i also adore how the tracks take a much darker turn in the next two; it felt rather chilling and eerie as a nice contrast :0
i like how the soundtrack wrapped up with "Reprieve" and subtly incorporated some motifs from "Beyond These Glades", very noice touch!
Phenomenal atmostphere all throughout and amazing musical storytelling. Each song felt like a complete chapter in the premise you described, and the quality of everything is incredible especially considering the time limits. I think my favorite's gotta be "Beyond The Glade," (I'm a sucker for piano and drums) but I think that's in large part thanks to the great buildup from the rest of the songs here. Amazing work!
I really like the narrative. The music illustrates super well the story and is quite immersive, I was immersed all along. The last one feels awesome after Stranger Danger and Beyond Help ahah, really good job !
Production quality of these is pretty crazy honestly - the Title theme had me roped in almost immediately. Gorgeous ambient pads and some soft piano to really evoke some feel as the piece progressed. Nice little bits of sound-design and ear candy scattered around the space to keep things interesting.
Beyond These Glades is absolutely gorgeous - effortlessly capturing a playful but determined kind of vibe. Loving the understated percussion in this to accompany the piano, guitar and soft synths. There's some really unique about this track - telling a story but also roping in the listener to be part of said story. Loving the mix of instruments in this and articulation is beautiful.
Stranger Danger, as per the title, is a step away from the previous two tracks. I was curious to see how you'd handle tension and I can't say I'm disappointed. Great orchestral work here, plenty of motion and each element is layered well. Hefty silence at the end to really capitalize on that ending crescendo.
Beyond Help follows in similar footsteps for the first second or so before opening up into a more contemplative piece. There's some definitive tension at play here, but not oppressively so. Piano work in this is great - loving the soft hint of delay to really have each note ring out just a little longer than it needed to, furthering selling that tension. The use of reversed elements toward the end is really well done, and complements the feel of the piece incredibly. It felt like revisiting the first half-again but in a very different headspace.
Lastly, Reprieve does not disappoint. Orchestration is in full swing off the bat here with some wonderfully diverse articulation and more of that understated percussion from Beyond These Glades earlier. Melodies here are really pretty and so soft. I'd have loved if this was just a little longer, to really get lost in it for a while.
Great work as a whole - these were interesting to listen to and could easily fit within a game. I think the first two tracks in particular really stuck out to me as something special. Best of luck!
Very cool composition, and the storytelling through the music is very well made !
I absolutely love Beyond the Glade, such a chill and cool vibe. It reminded me of some of FFX town theme, which I adore :D
Really great submission !
woah all your songs are 3.5 MB lol. also um you wrote "As they travel farter" in the desc.
The first track is really nice and ambient. I like it quite a lot
Track 01 Beyond These Glades - is just comfy and nice, with an adventurous tone, feels like it would slot right into a game!
Track 02 - really has that lost feeling a stranger would give off too, with track 03 really feeling like an expansion on this with desolation.
Track 04 is amazing! it could be me but it still feels like the kid is a little scared and shaken up in the expression of this song.
Overall amazing, i could totally imagine these in a game!
There was a lot of empty space at the end of some of the songs that I'm not sure were intentional.
I liked the last track the best because of the peppy instruments and chord progression.
Great job! I particularly am a fan of Reprieve and Beyond this Glades! Great writing, great balancing, bravo!
Your music has a crispness, even the spookier parts, that's very nice. I could listen to this all day. Well done!
