Congrats on making a finished game and submitting it for your first (game jam) project, not a lot of folks can say that they finished!
Really unique game idea and a great take on the theme, my tactic ended up being to eat from outside in (so not getting full circles) so as to avoid choking.
Great idea for a game jam! Especially for a first time. I really liked it; it's super original. Great work!
Thanks for the review! Originally me and my friend were talking about this week's trijam topic(which he introduced me to), and I just thought of a joke entry as "eating the table". Since i got a little bit of programming experience, I just tried to make a simple thing like that. Glad you liked the idea:)
Your first ever game? Great start! The appeal of eating an entire table was enough to keep me going to the end. One little pointer.. Considering you're just waiting to be able to eat and not fill up too quick, the fullness amount should be visible to the player. Just a slider bar that constantly tries to fill up but gets depleted by x amount when you bite. Also I think our ability to eat improved over time? If so that should be made explicit to the player (just a flash on screen 'appetite increase' or something). Anyway, very good first game, and enjoyed this generally.
Thanks for the detailed review! One of my original ideas was to have a slider bar or different stages, but I chose a single stage of warning to make the game a little bit harder(which was probably a bad idea since I am struggling to speed run my own game). Also I made the fullness system pretty badly(since I am horrible at programming)and it is tied to the frame rate capped at 60. Minor frame changes could have affected the result, since the fullness is static overtime. Thanks again for the suggestions and I will try to make more games in the future:)
Cool game! Won in 3:37 if anyone want to speedrun this!
It seems the slow down mechanic is linked to how many pixel you eat (if you eat around the border I think you don't get slow down that often) and I think that's smart! Great game!
This was absolutely hilarious. I would maybe do a fullness bar to reinforce the idea that you can only eat so much at a time and give the user a sense of where they are at. This is the first time I have choked to death while eating a table and I sincerely hope it isn't the last.
