This is actually quite the interesting mechanic. It would be fun to have an extended puzzle game like this. Did you have a trigger to reload and scale down when the player enters a certain point or actually place everything in the map?

I had a area around the level that detected when you exited  it. when you leave it it scales you down and moves you to the same place relative to the smaller version. a identical area surrounded the small version that scales you up.
