This game is a pretty fun puzzle game. I will say that the player speed may be a little too fast for me. If you plan on updating this game in the future, I would like to see how you can make each level a little more unique from the others.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Much of the level design for the jam was used to quickly familiarize the player with each mechanic by calling out the differences between scenes. It does get a bit same-y looking after awhile, though.

Such a nice little puzzle game! I love how every new feature is nicely introduced and makes sense. Music is very calming and fits the game art style. Great job! :D

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! I'm happy people are pleased with the art style and the flow of each mechanic.

how is this a game jam game? its very polished and the mechanics are very good , the art style and the gameplay mechanics all on point excellent job!!!! WELL DESERVED 5/5 for everything!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the kind words! There's quite a ways to go before I would consider this polished, but I think I need to learn animation first.

Engaging gameplay and a nice gradual introduction to new mechanics! Choice of music and color palette really go together. Nice submission!

Developer

Thanks for playing! I'm glad you liked the atmosphere and color palette.

I liked the music and sprites! The lantern in particular is really pretty. The puzzles themselves were neat, if a little on the simple side. I enjoyed how you gradually introduced elements like the switches and campfires. There are a few places where I would've liked to see a bit more put into the visual side of things. For instance, you can clearly see in where the fill tool was used when coloring in the triangular beams of light. A solid little puzzle game!

Thanks for the feedback! The lights are sprite shapes in Unity and I wasn't sure how to stop the seams from appearing. I think it may be a graphics setting in the presets, but I need to dig into it deeper. I'm glad you enjoyed the game.

I enjoyed the music and the interpretation of the theme was neat. I hope you keep creating!

Developer

Thanks for the kind words and motivation!

The game has a nice feel, and the music is fitting.

Developer

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Very cool game, I really like the concept. The player moves a little fast which can be frustrating, but all in all I enjoyed it. Could be really cool if you expanded on this concept and added some more interesting puzzles.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing! I have a bunch of ideas for expanding this into a more feature-complete release, including a tighter player controller and more iteration put into puzzle design.

Submitted(+1)

That's awesome! I hope to see that in the future

Cute game overall! I liked the mechanics, but would have liked the puzzles to get expanded on. Also i dont know if it was just me, but moving felt a little clunky in tight spaces, and animations would have been appreciated. Apart from the missing animations, your art is really nice to look at, and the music was very fitting. Good job!

Developer

Thanks for the kind words! I've only been doing pixel art for a couple weeks and appreciate all of the feedback people have left regarding the art direction.

I love the game mechanic, the music and the atmosphere it creates. One thing tho is that if you go outside the light you are basically just bricked but the puzzle element overshadows that a bit

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I realized that leaving the light bricks you pretty early on and it was the reason I added a restart button. After the rating period I will likely add messaging when out of the light to signal for restart.

Nice simple game. Despite of very simple graphics and lack of animations, it creates calm, meditative atmosphere. I've passed the game and it was fun. Thank you

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! I definitely need to learn how to animate, but I'm glad you enjoyed the atmosphere and the game.

Submitted(+1)

Good job anyway!

Cool game. I like the levels, and the mechanics is interesting. I enjoyed playing the game, but I was a little sad that there only was so few levels, and they was easily completed. Hope to see more levels some day.

To increase the polishing of the game, maybe the fire hitbox could be a little more smooth (maybe use a circular collider), and some sfx and small animations would really pop the game to the top for me.

Continue the good work!

Developer

Thanks for the suggestions! I knew the fire hitbox was a little weird, but that was the last mechanic I implemented and the primitive placeholder was a box, so I had never considered a circular collider. I do plan on updating after the jam to clean up some things and flesh out the mechanics a bit more.

Very calm music, ok art style and interesting main mechanics. It is a pity there is no animation. Overall, the game is ok.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Art is my biggest weakness and something I want to work on more. I'm glad you enjoyed the mechanics.

Hey, before submissions end you should resubmit with slower movement speed, it's a bit too fast. Other than that it's pretty good. Nice Job.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I had some thoughts on the move speed throughout the project, but there were always more pressing issues to make the game playable. I do plan on making some changes after the jam and the character controller is the first thing on my list.
