This is a game jam for Your Friend in Witchcraft, an epistolary game for two players about magic, power, and friendship. From the December new moon to the February new moon, you can create and share your own community coven content for Your Friend in Witchcraft right here!

What is Your Friend in Witchcraft?

Your Friend in Witchcraft is a letter-writing roleplaying game. As you play, you’ll tell a story about how witches learn, how leaders grow, and how people change. One player will portray the Novice: you are new to witching; there are no other witches in your community who can advise you. The other player will portray the Expert: you're an old hand at witching, and have knowledge to share. Gameplay happens asynchronously, as you write and exchange letters during the different seasons of the year, using tarot cards to inspire your stories.

I've just restocked community copies of the game, so feel free to grab one as you work on your submission!

What kind of game jam is this?

To celebrate the joy of telling stories together, this is a casual, unranked game jam meant to inspire creativity! There will be no voting on submissions, and no awards. I'll be shouting out submissions in my newsletter, though!

I'll be working on an updated version of the base game featuring brand new beautiful custom art by Xan Farley, and creating an SRD for the system I used for this game. If you're feeling inspired by Your Friend in Witchcraft, I'm so excited to see what you create.

What do I need to know to submit to this jam?

🗒️ Use whatever format you like! If you can publish it on itch, you can submit it to this jam.

📚 Submit as many things as you like! You can submit short works, long work, works in progress, or works you've already finished. 

💸 Charge or don't charge: you can submit free works, pay-what-you-want works, or paid works. If your submissions is paid, you might want to consider including community copies so other jam participants can check it out.

❤️‍🔥 You can submit NSFW projects, but you must indicate that your project is for a mature audience

⛔ No AI-generated content, including artwork and writing.

What rules do I need to follow to create third-party content?

These are the licensing terms for Your Friend in Witchcraft. When creating third-party content that builds on this game, you must agree with, and act in accordance with, the following terms.

What is allowed under the licensing terms:
