This is great! Feels pretty chill with the music, and gameplay is fun and responsive. Really dig the artstyle aswell, the way the fish turn around is actually impressive! Great work

interesting little game, found it a little hard to connect to the theme, i suppose the fish are the ai and you are the school? I really liked the Art style though and it was a nice relaxing game

lovely game. I can imaging if we can play longer, we can see the flock growing and growing and become a legendary in the sea. it is both relaxing and exciting while playing. good job!

Definitely an interesting interpretation of the theme.  It fits for sure and it's got an interesting game loop which was quite fun to try and get a high score with.  I will say as though there does seem to be some risk vs reward with how the plankton spawns.  Though there's not much strategy that at least from what I can tell, could be employed, since you're not above to really get a broad picture.

You're generally reacting quite quickly to sharks, unless you move them off screen quite fast.  Which did happen to me a bit so that was nice.  Though it seems like the plankton spawns relative to you.

Which means that if you have the sharks off screen you're likely missing out on plankton.  I could be wrong on that it just seemed as though when I strayed near one place the plankton popped up in the same spawns a decent amount of of times.  I also assume it could be used to avoid using a finite map, by making sure all the spawns are near you and so the map can sort of "move with you".

Overall though, an interesting high score based game, that has a bit of strategy to, though I didn't really use the split up the school mechanic that much.  It did seem to have some potential.

Thank you so much for streaming the game! It is extremely valuable and will help me improve the game in the next iteration.

Very nicely done.  Anybody who says this is relaxing doesn't share my terror of sharks :D

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! Maybe I'll add a mode where it's not sharks but something else ahah

very short and sweet game! i had quite a bit of fun growing my school of fish, and the pixel art is adorable :)

Very relaxing game, perfect music and sound design! Maybe you should play a bit with the collision layers and mask so the fish won't shake when collide with each other? If that was the case. Minor detail, mentioned it only if you didn't know what was happening. Oh! And perfect pixel art! I also really enjoyed the game over animation. :)

Developer

Thank you so much! It was my first time doing pixel art and recording my guitar for a game jam, so your comment really warmed my heart.
About some of the shaky fish, at our home we called it "the crazy ones" ahah. There are no collisions in this game, it's the "mob mentality" programming that keeps them separated and following the same general direction. I used the concepts of "boids" for autonomous movement :)

It would be very nice to play in mobile. Fun & relaxing game!

It took me absolutely ages to realise it was O and not 0 that i had to press. At first I was like well this is kinda boring, then when It finally became clear it was O, I had a blast. This game is so fun. I wish the timer was longer, I'd love to have like 150 fish.

well done 5 stars from me all-round

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for your kind words and feedback. You're not the first refering the timer. I might add an infinite mode when the jam is over!

I'm glad you felt relaxed playing it! Thanks for playing!

Not sure how this links to collaborating with AI- if I'm missing something please tell me, but apart from the lack of relevance I love the art style and idea. Good job!

Developer

My main idea was to have a boids system that as a mob mind. You control the general movement and give comands to the mob, but the individual fish will make it's own path (decision). There is a lot to add here: panic flee from sharks, auto feed due to hunger, etc etc

Thanks for playing and feedback, really appreciate it!

I didn't understand how to play. Sorry? good luck ! Thanks for game

Thanks for playing! Check my reply to the above comment to get a bit more context. It's a more casual kind of game 🙂

Very cute game and very cute fish :) And sharks are not very aggressive. I had fish deaths mostly when I pressed "K".

Developer

ahah yeah, that 'ability' has it's moments.

Thanks for playing!
