Like it! But in one level im stuck:

Developer

I know, I accidentaly increased the gravitational pull of the platforming controlls while uploading the second version of the build, only realised it happend after submissions were over... it's now very, very hard but still, it's possible. After the ratings are over I will upload a fixed version + much better controlls, polish and stuff! :D

Submitted(+1)

Was a bit hard to figure out the controls, the robot was kinda sticking to the walls but otherwise great job, very playable game

Developer

Thanks a lot! :D (there's a tutorial btw)

Gamemaker is a sandboxed engine, don't worry, meaning it can't really modify stuff in a malicious way. :D (unless you use extensions or create an included DLL file that does that, but... yeah. I don't know how to code that anyways ;-; and I wouldn't, because it's a crime and I would be harming other people's devices)

Hello! :D

The jam is over and I decided to update the movement, as people disliked it.

Could you give me honest feedback? :D

If you want to...

Liked this meta game, kinda inspired on Oneshot and Undertale for some parts and SFXs.

The sprites needs work, but I liked how you “collaborated with an AI” for doing all the rest.

The jumps are kinda buggy, but I am sure you will improve it in the full version.

I will rate this a deathhshalllbeebroughtttooyouusoon..=) / 10.

Developer

How do y'all know? lol

Unfortunately the platforming is not very good, it might have been better to focus more on the story and interaction with the game files.

Submitted(+1)

weird  but cool

Submitted(+1)

The start is the best part, especially the error messages (I think you should have things like that be the whole game), but the platforming is pretty janky, you get stuck on ledges and can't hold to jump many times and for some reason the level with first spikes had the first platform too high for me to jump.

I don't really understand how that wasn't honest feedback, I can only add that in platforming the art was really unconsistent and (if you ask me) just bad (usually I don't say anything about visuals, because I feel it's just preference, so that's why I didn't say about that), but other than that I don't see what wasn't honest, if you want to you could give honest feedback about my feedback could you give it :D.....

Developer

Nooo, I mean on the new update ;-;

sorry for being unclear, you gave awesome feedback before! :D

Submitted(+1)

The jump is fixed so that's good, but there was the robot from start just floating in middle of the screen the whole game and many things would have needed animations like the buttons.

Developer

Thank you so much! :D
I'll add you in the credits and you can also get the game for free if you want once it's hopefully fully released if I'm making it into a full one!

also the robot, debugging thing I still have to remove

Submitted(+1)

I really like the art and sound in the game. Congrats on the entry

Developer

Thanks! :D

Submitted(+1)

did you take inspiration from oneshot? anyways the game is very cool the start cutscene is fun and the graphics are good! great job

Developer

yea, I did lol :D Thanks!

Submitted(+1)

I like this game a lot. It is an interesting concept with excellent graphics. But you could probably improve the controls. Another issue was that it showed an error and didn't even open on my laptop. Had to try it on another computer. I would suggest to provide a Web build in the future. Overall, It is a great entry.  Good luck!

Developer

Thank you for your review! :D

The error was (most likely) caused because of some shaders, and your graphic drivers are outdated, but you can fix that by deleting the D3DX9_43.dll. (The extension that runs the shaders). Thank you again, glad you liked it! ^^

Developer

also I can't make it into a Web build because... well, spoilers but you know the file thing :)

Submitted(+1)

Yes of course! Didn't even think about that.

Developer

Just so I know, what type  of laptop did you have? OS? Graphic drivers?

I'm asking because I could probably debug more and fix the problem. You're a hero! :D

Submitted(+1)

it's a really old hp laptop. Model no: 15-ac646tx. Running windows 10. Everything is updated. It's probably the hardware. The game runs fine on the desktop which has recent hardware.

Developer(+1)

Thank you a lot for the info btw! :D

Developer

honstly I don't know how to make a web build anyways ;-;

Tried to once...in an old jam...

Yeah sure. But not right now, I will  let you know about my experience when I play. Btw how are you feeling about the results?

Developer(+1)

Good, better than last year! :D

Not my best rating in a game jam, but honestly still my favorite game I made just because I had fun doing it.

Even if I didn't have awesome results, I still learned a lot and it was nice to participate and evolve as a creator! ^-^

What about you? :)

Submitted(+1)

Good to hear that. I'm slightly disappointed with my ratings. But that's fine, I have learned a few things in the process. Also, the community is great. Very helpful and encouraging.

Developer(+1)

Honestly you got pretty good ratings! :D

I was a bit dissapointed too, but then I realized I was competing with people twice my age and I'm just a begginer so I'm pretty happy with mine

Submitted(+1)

I loved the theme and music in the game. The beginning portion was honestly my favorite part. The platforming could definitely use some work though, moving around was frustrating for me. Really nice entry.

Developer

thxxxxxxx! :D

I'm trying to play and rate your game but the game soft-locks after the "Hello user" message. I tried every possible input and got no response :(

Nevertheless, judging by the screenshots and other comments, you did a good job! Congratulations on your submission!

Developer

Thank you!

Have you tried pressing "Z"?

Submitted(+1)

Yeah :(

I'm 99% sure it's my PC it's not working properly lately. I'll try on my girlfriend's laptop whenever she arrives and edit my comment.

Developer

Oh, that sucks...

Well, thanks a lot! :D

I'm playing your game now and I love it so much!

You did a great job! ^-^

Submitted(+1)

I was finally able to play your game. My computer is terrible haha.

The introduction was super interesting. It was clever to use the file path to deduce my name, and I really liked the password thing.

My only concern is that the jumping was a bit off. There were a couple of really tedious jumps that I had to try several times because the character kept getting stuck on the ledge.

Overall, great game! The music was good too :)

Congratulations on your submission!

Developer

Sure! I'll play it tomorrow.

Developer

Thanks! :D

Submitted(+1)

Played! It definitely felt better. I like the "Mario jump". I didn't get stuck on any platform and I was able to navigate the levels faster and more comfortably.  You also added squash and stretch, didn't you?

On a side note, the IA sprite of the introduction was present in every room. Was that intentional?

Developer

Thank you a lot for the feedback! Definitely have to credit you. :)

And yes, squash and stretch even if he's a robot.

For the sprite thing of the AI... that was for debugging and I thought I removed it lol. ^^

Thanks a lot again! :D

You're the best!

Developer

btw wdym with "Mario jump"?

Submitted(+1)

The longer I hold the jump key, the higher the character jumps

Developer

Oh. I knew it as Variable jump height lol but Mario jump makes sense too.

Submitted(+1)

Love the background and art style!

At the beginning, it was going great: a unique game where the AI is the main thing; but the platforming made it weirdly confusing and hard to do.

Pro Tip: When using collision platforming, don't use the Solid attribute on the terrain; use this:

This helped in my game, since I had the same thing as you did in one of my previous prototypes.

UPDATE 2: The ending was too good to be ignored. <3

Developer

wait, I think I was using almost the exact code?

lol :D

Thank you for the feedback!

Developer

I didn't use the SOLID attribute btw

Nice platformer game, but the controls and hitboxes are a little janky.

When i hold left/right and press UP, it rarely registers it. I get stuck on sides of things quite often and also "hang" on side of a platform.

The hang on side bug pretty much looks like what I dealt with in my game where if i mirrored the player sprite it'd miscalculate the hitbox or something and let me hang on right side of a platform.
I fixed that by instead of flipping the sprite, i swap the sprite for a mirrored one.

It looks like this was made in GMS 1. You can check Shaun Spalding on youtube. He has qute a lot of GMS 1 tutorials. :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot! :D

I uploaded the game with very good controlls, but decided to change some things with the sprites, and today I found out why everyone dislikes the controlls after the update: Odd locations of pixels in the mirrored sprite's mask...

Thank you for the suggestion!

I used GMS 1.4 and yes, I do know Shaun Spalding. In fact, this is a script I wrote long ago by him, but I decided to rewrite it.

I'm sorry i can't click on the buttons "Yes"/"No"... Also, the game is not in full screen and i can't change it...

But if you want i can rate you with the youtube video on your page! (Don't worry i'll rate you good... I liked the sounds, the graphics and the story...).

Developer

Have you read the tutorial?

You need arrow keys and Z to play the game.

And the lack of fullscreen is important, you'll see why later...

Submitted(+1)

I think i tried it to... But it's possible i was not in the good keyboard type... I will retry later!

Developer

what do you mean?

Submitted (1 edit) (+1)

Like Azerty or Qwerty... But i retry it and it worked! A very good game!

Developer

Thx a lot! :D

Submitted(+1)

A game with a huge potential!

If we were you, we would personally focus on the file searching/modifying of game files, however it's a sweet experience after all! :)

Developer

Thanks a lot for the feedback! :D

Submitted(+1)

At first it starts as a Oneshot Inspired title, then  it turns into a 2D platformer about a robot, who can stick to walls, and only jump 56% of the time. Would love to see more of the file searching stuff like at the start of the game.

Developer

The full game will be mostly OneShot related, but I ran out of time in the second part. In the full version the controlls will be improved and also the platforming parts will need more outside the game puzzles, and the AI will talk to you inside the game.

Developer

And the controlls are horrible, I am aware of that, first time exporting as a ZIP file.

But still, thanks a lot for the feedback! I appreciate it! :D

Submitted(+1)

Good work! Have fun

Developer

Glad you liked it! :D

Submitted(+1)
