I remember seeing Vimlark play this on his twitch stream

Hi I like your game I have been making games for 1 month and you have for 3 months probably but I am nowhere near your proficiency and skill. This is a smooth game. I am playing on Mac with wine, but for some reason the mouse flys around the screen, even though turned the mouse sensitivity to 1. Kinda sluggish. But reaaaaaly good game.

Developer

i'm not sure about why you have this issue sorry :/ i'll work on it. Thanks for the feedback, glad you liked it =)

Absolutely love it <3

Very polished, very fun entry!

I love this take on the theme, while failure is essential, but it is still in the end FAILURE, so you aren't immortal and can still lose if you fail enough.

VERY refreshing to play a 3D game!

The player felt nice, the game was graphically pretty, combat was fun although the attack range was weird.

I would like to see more UI elements like a health meter and more just overall polish to the UI, a better dialogue system rather than just in the level, and some QOL changes.

Worked well with WINE 6.0 on Linux (Doesn't work with WINE 5.x)

Developer

thanks a lot,  glad you liked it !

Really nice game, feels very polished, visuals are beautiful and consistent

I had some hard time getting used to air control, but otherwise controls were pretty smooth

Good job!

Developer

This was really fun! Honestly enjoyed it and I got to the "end," like what appears to be the end? Tried playing through again for secrets but couldn't find anything that changed the way it ended.

I did play through it twice though, so that tells you something about how interesting it is :)

Visually very appealing. There are some polish concerns with the UI in game (pause menu doesn't match the main menu aesthetic, death count is a bit prototype esc), but I totally let these pass on rating since it's a game jam. Oh, and the sword trail never stops even when you're just walking/not swinging. Again, not a major concern, just an observation.

Design wise, I would have appreciated check points when you get to a new area based on having to die to get there, like a checkpoint for after the first double jump for instance. Some of the repetition after dying seems unnecessary when starting from the very first point. What you did do here which I like is that enemies don't respawn when you die.

Sound: largely good, just missing a sound effect for when you land/become grounded after a jump. Sometimes I jumped too soon, thinking I had already landed, but wound up double jumping instead and thought it was a regular jump, so I died not being able to do the next jump which I meant to use my double jump for. Hope that makes sense.

Level progress: I like the sound effect and visuals for moving the islands, but I didn't always know where to look so if I missed them moving sometimes it took me a while of panning the screen to find where to go.

All in all, a fun game and the concerns/critiques above are just objective critiques I'd give to any game that was made in a normal amount of time. Please consider this game a serious success! I enjoyed it, and I'm sure others do too.

Developer

You are right at every single point. I could give a bit more time to polish the UI but i don't trust my internet so i just submitted it ASAP hahaha, i agree with the checkpoint / repetition thing, but i prefered to play it safe and submit the game sooner. The double jump problem you had was actually due to the sphere that detects the ground, it doesn't work properly when the ground is inclined, my bad. I'm so glad that you liked the game tho ! it means a lot to me =)

Wowie.
You did so much in just 3 days. This is amazing.
Everything is great.

Some things I noticed:
Maybe you could give the trees colision.
In the final level after walking through the exit, when you then open the settings menu and go back you can resume the game.
The music doesn't loop.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

thanks a lot =) i didn't notice that tree detail and the resume bug thanks for pointing them out ! :D

really good game bro , everything is cool, the idea, the music, the visuals and the effects

i am surprised that all this in just tree days

The movement in this feels really good and well polished. Makes the weightlessness of the combat standout a little more, although I do understand how hard it is to make first person melee feel good. Love how bits of the level pop up when you defeat enemies, and the death counter is a cool twist on the dying to get better mechanic.

Developer

thank youuu =)

Developer

So starting out with the game you see amazing main menu, in terms of graphics.

Then you start out on a tutorial with amazing visuals, and platform designs as for ONLY 3 DAYS.

The story is about someone stuck in a dream, telling someone how it looked like, and what did he do in it. We are a person listening to his words, and playing his dream. I could take an interpretation of us thinking in our heads how did the dream look like, since we got interested in it.

The movement got a bit wacky at points, but it was okay. The mouse sensitivity was big at the start, glad you did a options menu lol!

Fight is cool, hard, with nice looking enemies.

I cannot really tell anything else for this game other than: Amazing visuals, level design. Incredible story. Fight system was okay. WOWIEE!

Developer

thank youuu climaaaa you litterally described the game better than me hahaha. Glad you liked it.

It was a fun and well polished experience. The combat was pretty basic, but still enjoyable enough for what it was. The gameplay overall probably would've lent itself better to a third person game than a first person one, but I understand that the latter is much easier to do in a jam game.

Developer

You're 100% right. Thanks for the comment and good luck for the jam :D
