the game was pretty fun but I'm not sure about the topic (I mean game jam topic)
Thanks, yeah it's not exactly clear. You can still progress after falling/failing to the slimes, as the knight's sword can still damage enemies and the knight will get back up after awhile to fight again
I found the game oddly entertaining! He looked so funny, like "Im just swinging my sword and don't give a damn!" haha x) I think the game would have been even more fun if you could turn around the character though, because if the enemy was behind you it was really hard to hit it. But except from that it was pretty fun to play! :D
Yeah the Knight is "like I'm just moving my sword around it's your own fault if you get hit by it".
Yeah, hitting enemies behind is difficult, I did have the sword even shorter at one point and it was even worse then.
The knight is actually a she, as revealed in the ending once you beat all the quests and go through all the dialogue.
Oh, I did actually kill the last large blob but I must have missed the revealing of that the knight was a she x(
you can take the quests in any order after the first but you have to do them all for the ending
wow fun concept and nice music
Thanks :)
Hey that was pretty fun! Having the blobs jumping around crazily was both messy and entertaining.
Thanks, it's great to hear that! :)
Pretty good, but i dont know if it fits the topic
Thanks for playing and rating.
Yeah it's a bit of a stretch but you can still damage slimes after falling. I did have some more ideas to reinforce it but didn't get chance to add them in.
Fun! Very catchy music. Left a positive rating :)
Thanks, did you hear the ending music? I like that one the best :D
I did :)
Toil and paine ! Behold my swordeth as I slowlybreakest thine blobs !
Thou arthest fools ! To challengee the rules, a greatere hero thou'll never find !
(true gamers have the ref)
That was easily the game I had the most fun playing. Super engaging.
Looks like I'm not a 'true gamer' where's that from so I can ascend?
Thanks that really means a lot :)
Roulx Kaard (from Deltarune) song by Man on the Internet
hahaha that's awesome thanks :)
the theme of the jam is well implemented. the music is well chosen to the medieval-type of character. The art could have been a bit more polished and would have liked another control system, instead of mouse based and a bit faster movements. Check out my game ;)
Thanks, you're the first to say the theme is well implemented. I've checked out your game too
Ty for checking my game! Yeah i said it fits the topic because i couldn't lose to that enemies. My health always went up again. And that is what the subtitle of the jam was about: Messing up with winning/losing conditions. That implies also making games with "no lose condition" XD I also made a game for the jam where u cannot lose ;)
Stopeth thine swing!
I love this so much!
the combat system is super simple but you can kind of control it.
And the music is great
Thanks, I had a lot of fun coming up with the dialogue. Yeah the music is great.
Hilarious dialogues, fun controls, I loved it!
Thanks for sharing this
Thanks, glad to hear it.
This was a great little comedy game, really makes me think that there could be potential for an idle game with humor and physics interaction. Fun characters and general presentation, like others have said I wish there was a command to make the squire move/swing a little faster. Nice work!
Thanks :) I did plan to have a upgrade to system for the knight to swing faster, I didn't get chance to put it in.
I liked the humor, animations, and music, it's all very charming. I would have liked a faster move speed, and maybe the option to swing in reverse, but overall I really liked the game.
Thanks, funny and charming was what I was going for.
Yeah, it probably should've been faster, I did want to have an upgrade system so it was set to fairly low speed, so I should've increased it when I didn't get chance to put in the upgrades.
Well done, the idea is funny.
Thanks :)
Very interesting mechanics, definitely makes the game challenging. fun experience. :)
Thanks, I'm glad you had fun with it :)
The swing mechanic is really interesting, I enjoyed the game
Thanks, good to hear :D
I enjoyed this game! I like the quest system and trying to control a character from a distance.
Thanks for playing! :)
I put the beat down on some slimes! But I would like it if the squire was a bit faster. This game has a fun humor and the characters made me smile. I really like the clean UI and that you have several quests. There's some fun and engaging dialogue too. Great work! Also, I really enjoyed the victory Kazoo noise xD Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the feedback. I initially planned on having some sort of upgrade system to increase the speed but I only had so much time.
It's great to hear the game made you smile and got so much enjoyment from it.
Really nice game. I like the idea of giving the character commands instead of performing it yourself.
Is there only one level or am I missing out on more?
The music fits the game really well.
You are missing out. You can click 'Return to Tavern' and take on more quests
Ahh, thanks! I did this before I beated the slimes by accident and then the level restarted.
I think I assumed this would also happen as well after I was finished with the level, because I did not really see a finish message.
But apparently I wasn't finished yet!
I should've made it more clear, I only put in the little victory sound effect to signify the level was completed.
I now completed all the levels.
Its nice how you have different music for the different quests!
I especially liked the bossfight!
Make sure to go through all the dialogue at the end to Party!!!!
Very nice and funny! Just I'm not sure where the challenge is because I literally tried to die at one point and just kept getting back up. So I'm not too sure how the failure state exploration fits the theme here but maybe I missed something. Love the humorous style.
Glad you enjoyed it! There's no challenge you could leave it running and you'll eventually win haha.
Normally in RPGs, when you lose all your hp you die/fail/have to start again, here the Knight only gets knocked out and can still progress by getting back up and can also progress towards winning if the sword contacts a blob whist knocked out/in the failure state.
Ah, well unfortunately I think you summed up the issue in the first sentence haha. Despite the theme, you still need challenge in order to have a game right
That is debatable. There's a lot of games which have no challenge at all, especially creative ones like Minecraft's creative mode or Story-driven games
Yes but that is contextual. Some story driven games have challenge in making decisions and dealing with the consequences. Minecraft creative is a playground to build in. Your game is an action/fighting game - the mechanic, the skill to test, is in giving the player the right directions. If it contained some more silly/emergent gameplay it could be more of a sandbox type experience but it isn't, you have a clear goal of dropping all the monster's healthbars to 0.
I'd probably compare it more to an idle game, like Cookie clicker. The timescales are way different but no matter what you do you progress, and winning is more a matter of efficiency.
Wait what ^^ Oh this is nice ^^ Really nice Game might even work on touchscreen online :D Nice!
Thanks for the nice comment! Yeah, might try an Android build later
