This jam is now over. It ran from 2025-05-31 14:01:00 to 2025-06-27 13:59:57. View 6 entries

The goal of this Jam is to get together a bunch of zine makers to make more game zines! Our world is sorely lacking with Game Zines as there is never enough!

If you didn't already know a zine is a small self made publication of some kind, either over multiple pages in a book form or literally any other form you can dream of, but most stereotypically a zine is an 8 page mini book folded from a single piece of paper!

shown here :))

And to then make it a game zine, the next step is to make it interactive in any way. Whether that be a pick a path book, a crossword, rules for a new board game or even rules for a new sport! Additionally! If you're in Melbourne and nearby the Sticky Institute you can come participate in person in more ways listed bellow underneath the rules! Happy Zine-ing Zinesters :D

(and happy Pride too if you're reading this in June!)

How to get involved in the Sticky Institute Game Jam!

The game can be submitted any time between the dates of June 1st to June 27th (with the exception of participating in the zine launch party) in any or multiple of the following four formats!

  1. Game Jam Launch - Physical Submission cut-off/ due date is 24th of June
Submit a fully-playable copy of your zine game with all necessary tokens and accessories to be played at the launch. This will be an in person event run out of the Sticky Workshop space at 510 Elizabeth St, Melbourne, 3000. For participation, attached to your zine should also be a submission form which you can either download here at https://addr.bio/WZGJSubmissionForm or pick up a form inside the store!
    1. You can either mail us in your zine to our PO Box
      ( PO Box 310,
      Flinders Lane,
      Victoria, 8009,
      Australia.)
      orrrr,
    2. You can physically bring us in the copy yourself and we can help you through the processes!
  1. itch.io - Submission deadline is the 27th
Submit a digital copy of your zine game to the Game Jam on itch.io. This is completely online and won't include you in the physical zine launch but will still be fun and your work can be viewed in posterity and you can see the glory of your participation in this event.
  2. Stock your zine at Sticky Institute
Sticky will take up to 10 copies of your game zine to sell in-store! How and all the extra details on that can be found at https://stickyinstitute.com/stock-with-us
  3. Play along at home!
Use the game jam to make a cool zine (inspired by the theme and by the deadlines!), then revel in your victory from the comfort of your own home!

FAQs-

Q: If I am participating in the live zine launch event do I have to provide the dice or cards used in my game?

A: Sticky is bringing some dice that are available for communal use and a two packs of playing cards, but people hosting their games at the zine launch are strongly encouraged to bring everything required to play their games to the day.

Q: If I want to submit my zine to the game jam through itch.io will you print it for me?

A: We don't print any of the zines sorry, but we do accept up to ten mailed in copies! And will stock them for you in our store! :D

Q: On the online Sticky Website where can I find specific zine titles if I wanted people to see and buy my zine online?

A: Unfortunately Sticky has a constantly rotating stock of so many zines we don't have the time and resources to catalogue them all online - BUT! We sell zines as Instant Hit packs in our online store as we have too many titles to list each individually! When ordering an Instant Hit, you have the option to list any requests and we will do our best to select zines you will love! Instore zine titles are sold individually.
