Cozy game with interesting characters, but I wish there was some sort of way to clearly track stuff like what combinations I've already tried and how much of the dialogue options I've already unlocked. Not going to lie, I didn't notice the encyclopedia thing at first. ^ ^; The difference in art style between the cups and the characters is also jarring. That's all stuff that can be adjusted in a full release though; good luck to the team working on that!
Hi everybody, I see there are a lot of people here enjoyed what we made in 3 days of the Wild and Proud jam. So I want to announce that we are considering to work on the idea of the game after the jam finished. And maybe some of you want to participate in the development?
We are eager to complete this game and release it as a larger version with more content, improved gameplay and more oriented to a majority of players. And if you want to join us, we are looking for some people who are interested in joining our enthusiastic team. So you can write me in discord about you want to participate in further development of Tea Work and making it a bigger game not only for a single game jam. My discord is: onitenjikunezumi
It's a nice reading game with a VERY substantial amount of dialogue. The tea menu is satisfying to use, and the character designs are lovely. I mistakenly chose the "Full Story" option on my playthrough, which I do not recommend unless you plan on focusing on this game for a long while and not other submissions.
Thanks for your feedback! Nice to hear that you liked the game in general.
Yeah, Full story mode requires quite a time from the player... Did you finish it btw? Since it's really long (yeah, amount of dialogue is ginormous), totally fine if not. But if yes, we'd be glad to hear your impression on writing quality and... boredom? Was it too much to read in one go without any other gameplay or it was okay? Some feedback like that would be lots of use for us if it's not too much to ask!
The writing quality was very good, each character was distinct and had a lot of clear personality and passion put into each of them. I'm sorry to say I didn't finish the full story, as I was streaming my playthrough of several submissions and ended up playing this game for just about half an hour. I would have re-played it to see the short game, but I had already spent a bit too much time on it.
In terms of boredom, I wouldn't call it boring at all if the player is willing to do a lot of reading. Choosing the right tea seems to require a decent amount of puzzle-solving, which is plenty enough for gameplay. The full story IS a very large undertaking, but I think it's a perfectly good, casual, de-stressing kind of game if the player's not too busy.
Just watched your walkthrough! Thank you for all the insights and kind words! Also you are very funny "Maybe someday I'll meet Anne and make her a terrible tea" just killed me. I also loved how you voiced the characters and your reaction to cat Selene :D thank you for playing!
Anyways, I really liked the game! It's nice how y'all implemented the different color palettes for (what I'm guessing is the identity of) each of the characters. The game mechanic is interesting, though I'm not sure whether I am supposed to: find the one right combination that everyone would like, or make different versions that would cater to a specific person to coax out their dialogue. I guess the latter makes more sense but I feel kind of bad when someone that I wasn't targeting the tea towards doesn't like their tea :p.
Still, great game. I'm impressed by how much dialogue and options there is to explore for a game made over a weekend.
Thanks a lot for a feedback! Glad that you appreciated character designes and dialogues, they indeed took lots of effort)
The og idea was to find thier unique combination to everyone but yeah, I totally agree, making the same tea for everyone so others dislike it isn't the best option! We wanted to change that mechanic but time is time)) We def will consider that further if we create a bigger project based on that gameplay.
haha, glad you noticed the reference. I was watching the new thousandaries and as I was writing most of the dialogues I would take breaks to watch drag queen version of Sam Reich and realised why I should put a reference there in the beginning. Because why not?
I wrote dialogues that can be triggered if the tea was very bad for someone. So sometimes you can just try to go for finding the worst mix of tea for each person instead of the best one. The process of realising which tea works best or worst is, at least in my mind, supposed to include writing down stuff like what you already used for the tea. Perhaps if the jam was longer the system itself would be more understandable for the player, but we can only dream about it now when it's over. :D
I'm glad you enjoyed our work! Everyone put a lot of effort into it. Thank you for the review

Came for the tea, stayed for the sassy duck.
Great design, writing and aesthetic. Loved to play this!
Haha, duck is indeed sassy! Thx a lot for comment! Glad to hear that you liked the game!
Thank you! Viv was my favorite to write alongside Liam :) glad you enjoyed playing the game!

Wow, thanks for such a detail review! Nothing wrong with not finishing the story, that's totally fine!
Happy to hear that it wasn't boring and the writing hit your standards!
