Well done on your first game jam game guys! My first too! Felt satisfying casting spells!
Thx ^)
Combining the runes was a fun mechanic and the art and music were well chosen. It could do with more feedback for your actions - vfx, audio and such, but not bad for a first effort!
Very nice first jam game! Love the world, looks really nice. All its missing is some SFX/VFX for jumping/dying/etc.
Fun and interesting idea! I love the art, kind of reminds me of a Hollow Knight atmosphere without being too derivative. I would suggest maybe some better foreground / background separation in some places, but overall, really well done!
Good use of the theme for sure, I found the rune combination mechanic really interesting and it's something that could be explored in depth in a full game, jumping and walking around is kind of slow and there's no feedback when you get hit though.
A simple and interesting game, I really liked it. It takes about 30 minutes to complete. The gameplay is like a typical platformer, but there are interesting ideas with spells, and the fact that different slugs need different spells.
An interesting concept, but I think it's a bit rough around the edges. I like the idea of memorizing the runes in order to cast them. Although, if this were to be implemented on a larger scale, then some kind of grimoire or notebook where you can lookup spells you already know would be important to have.
What I liked:
1. The aesthetics look lovely and peaceful
2. The idea is new and interesting
3. The background music fits the theme well
What I didn't like:
1. Very little explanation on how the runes selection works
2. No feedback when the player is hit (audio and visual queues would help)
3. Lack of explanation of what each spell actually does
Other things I found and suggestions:
1. You can sometimes jump again while in mid-air (This is not related to the second spell where you can double jump)
2. Having some kind of notebook that saves all spells you learned would really help
All in all, nicely done.
Thx for comment. This is our first Jam, we will try to improve our next games and take into account all the above
Good use of the assets, especially the blowing grass. It took me awhile before I figured out you can cycle through multiple runes with the same key.
I enjoyed the mood and aesthetics, it's very pleasant. I think the controls could work better without using the mouse (perhaps WASD & JLK / Spacebar), so you can have one hand to move and the other to set the runes and shoot.
