  • Adorable characters, it started out serving some serious Tamagotchi influence (which I loved), then I quickly found out it was also going to be a text based adventure (which was a fun curve ball). I liked the choose-your-own path idea (could lead to replayability, but I found myself hoping in the final version there will be fight animations as it ended up feeling like the juicy parts were just told to me. Overall, I like where this is going and I will excitedly buy the finished version when it comes out!
  • This was a good entry. I felt like there wasn't much meaningful choice in my cards which is something that I think could be addressed. I enjoyed the agency but it felt like no matter what I chose was 'good enough.' I enjoyed it and with some polish this will be a right banger!
  • I see great potential in this game. I like the effort put into it by having the spirits transitions into different spirits depending on their stats. A good monster taming game.

One more thing before you submit your game...
1. Nope
2.
- Whitebrim Animated Sprite
- Re-used main menu from Piña Rollada
- Map background was made using Schwarnhild's previous asset pack that she made

Feedback:

  • Nice music based on the scene
  • Nice art and animations
  • Are fights skipped by design?
  • After the first transition I couldn't use any cards
  • Nice many different characters and different upgrade paths
  • Stats felt that's unclear what they are used for
  • Maxing strength I've lost multiple fights, in another round maxing speed would win we almost every fight
  • I like that I wouldn't need to restart the run when losing a fight, but fights felt uneventful and a bit meaningless

Thanks for the feedback, Dom!

When you say fights are skipped, are you saying that you are being taken straight to the results screen? There should be a text-based adventure style description of the battle.

Not being able to use any cards after the first transition is weird — haven't hit that bug before.

Regarding stats, did you by chance read the in-game manual? It is found on the main menu under the "How to Play" button.

Out of all the games in this jam, I think this one has the greatest opportunities for expansion (and based on the name I think you see that too!)  The art style is very charming and there's already a lot of threads built into the game that can be pulled on to expand it.  The main thing I feel needs expansion, however, is the battles.  The flavor text helps, but having these battles boil down into stat checks feels a little lame.  Speaking of those stats, they don't feel that different from each other besides being the conduit to getting different evolutions.  There's no reason to target any one stat over another besides it being lower, since having a single low stat risks running into a fight you can't beat.  Some kind of system that allows you to modify your creature beyond just stats would go a long way to improving the replayability of the game, but anything like that would probably be reliant on a re-work of the battle system.  That being said, I did complete a run and had a decent amount of fun doing so. so I think this game is on the right track!
