Episode description
Episode Synopsis:
Marcia Brady is asked out on a date with a friend named Charlie but then later on gets asked out on a date by the most popular football player Doug so she makes an excuse to break the date with Charlie. She kinda feels guilty but the excitement for her date with Doug helps her move forward.
Her younger step bros, Bobby and Peter are playing football in the yard when the infamous “Oh my nose!” scene occurs with the ball thrown by Peter hits Marcia square on the nose. Doug see Marcia with the swollen nose and makes an excuse to break off their date and Marcia feels terrible about being on the receiving end of the lie.
Near the end, Marcia confesses to Charlie about the lie and promises to go on another date, when Doug sees her nose has healed, his plans change too and he asks her out again, which she turns down.

Notes:
I remember this episode when I was a kid, and while it was kinda funny back then, for this game Idea I wanted to not do the typical “Hit Marcia with a football in the face” game. I wanted to try a completely different take on this and strongly base it off of the title.

Idea: What if the germs on Peters hands created a society on the planet sized football, which was spiraling towards Marcia nose since this was “The Subject Was Noses” after all and we play the last day or days before they all die by crashing into Marcia’s nose.

Cute little fun game with good graphics, music, and gameplay. It was pretty fun and had a good balance; wasn't too easy, but also not impossible. Good job!

That was silly!

I really enjoyed the art!  It was pretty fricken cute!  The gameplay was pretty solid, It sorta felt like the objects spawned on screen a little, so sometimes it felt like there was a little less time to react.  I definitely made it #firsttry!

Great work!

Failed to reach the rocket twice within approximately ONE PIXEL of reaching the rocket. So frustrating but actually really fun :) Love that music

Okay, so I played The Football Launch.

It looks good, it sounds good, it plays... a bit hard, but still fun and good!

The graphics and VFX are very enjoyable, and really make you want to replay the game.

The gameplay mechanics are simple, but have a nice skill cap, so the overall playing experience is very positive! Easy to understand, hard to master, as they say.

Conclusion:
Very nice artwork and sounds + simple yet hard gameplay, seems like an amazing formula for a Jam game. This game is definetely memorable, which is a nice achievement. Doesn’t seem very related to the show though? Haven’t watched it, judging by the provided link only.

An interesting take on the tv show. Decent graphics (liked the style a lot, just some seemed a bit unfinished). Good music/sound fx. Enjoyed it enough to reach the end :)

Such a uniquely different take on the episode, and lovingly brought to live through slick graphics, solid gameplay, and cool music! It all feels buttery smooth, from presentation to gameplay! Especially love how cute the main character is, and the way he chokes a bit when a football goes into his mouth! Well done :)

Side thought: It seems like the best way to win, is to just stick to the surface as much as possible? Since getting hit by a football in the air would throw one backwards quite a bit, where else on the surface, one gets stuck in the bumps and is free to carry on after a while. Perhaps some obstacles to make the player fly more would make it more challenging? :)

Thanks for playing!!!

Original design idea was that the players would be able to duck behind those humps. But then, to make the game even more challenging we allowed the particles to phase through the humps. I think the best way to win is to stay afloat in air.. That way you get more room to dodge... but then when you get hit, you lose distance... I'd say sticking to ground is a safe play style but slow.... while staying afloat is faster but risky IMO.

ah makes sense! Thanks for the explanation.. it's always illuminating to peek behind the curtain, to understand the reasons for certain design choices! :)

Developer

Thank for playing Wei,

Yeah there is more risk/reward for being air born vs a steady but slower pace on the "ground"

Super slick! A brutal side scroller. Really fun, great music and animations. Would love an easy mode just so I could see the ending. :)

Certainly a unique interpretation of the episode! Great artwork and I loved the rendition of the Brady Bunch theme!

This is a silly game and I love it, very unique interpretation as well.

Unfortunately, the game is unplayable in Chrome on macOS Mojave; The arrow keys just scroll the browser window, scrolling the game off screen, and nothing changes in the game.

There may be a good game here, but I'm afraid I cannot tell.

Hi Rambling,

I only have access to an older Macbook Air running OSX El Capitan.  I tried it with Chrome (71.0.3578.98  -  64bit) and it seemed to work ok for me.  itch.io launches the game in an iFrame and I am wondering if somehow its doing something weird in the OS/Browser version you currently have.   Try again by clicking the mouse on the iFrame where the game is.  If you hear music then it is in focus, if not, its probably focused on the parent frame I am guessing.  Let us know.  I can jump on a screen share and help troubleshoot on Discord

I did click in the iframe, and I do hear the music, but the page is still scrolling.

Good (bad) news, I was able to recreate the issue.  I'll look into it and see if there is a way we can resolve this.

I gave up on Chrome for WebGL. Firefox has worked mostly.
