This entry had the strongest taste for sure :P

It's cool how your visual results with the HPSXRP were quite different stylistically from our game!

Definitely gives an odd ambiance that sucks you in. I'm not quite sure if my choices for meat or candy mattered or knocking vs Trick-or-Treat, but that quickly doesn't matter as I find myself quickly scrambling to click all the things and grab the goods while a strange body is starring at me while it hangs from a hook on the ceiling.

Definitely an interesting vibe and there's a lot of cool stuff in there, but I found myself kinda lost in terms of a purpose for doing what I was doing. I get more candy and all, but I'm not sure why or if that's a good thing and what the candy count is actually used for in the end.

and I thought those little strawberry candies couldn’t get any worse.

loved the doorbells and the music was great! perfect vibe for this game. I only wished there were more neighbors to “meat.” cute, disgusting game.

CHAPTER 1 - Home Alone

It's Halloween night 2004 and your parents have left you home alone while they go out to party.

"I don't want to trick or treat anyway." You think to yourself. "That's kid shit."

You quickly grab a Capri Sun from the fridge.

As you walk back to your room, you grab your backpack off of the couch.

Suddenly, you remember that you found a mysterious CD on the playground today.

Back at your room; you kick off your Heelys and begin to rifle through your bag for the strange disk.

Within the deep recesses of your folders, you see a shiny black object. The CD.

"A black cd... like my PlayStation 1 games?" You mutter to yourself.

You grab the disk with your non-Capri Sun-occupied hand, and make your way to your very cool PlayStation 2, and hit the disk tray button.

The lights blink and the tray clicks open. You swap out the copy of Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, the hot new game that came out only 5 days ago, with the dirty blank ps1 game.

You close the tray and turn on your TV. It clicks on and Immediately ROARS with the PS2 start theme, just as you remember how loud your TV was the last time you had it on.

This horror causes you to scream, as you squeeze your Capri Sun all over your PS2.

The haunting chords echo through your house. A chilling reminder that you are still alone.

But just as the game begins to boot, you begin to hear a *POP* *POP* *POP* coming out of your soaked game system.

The TV begins to *POP* *POP* *POP* as well as the screen starts to warp and spin in a whirlpool of pixels and sound.

Before you can scream, the TV swallows you whole.

CHAPTER 2 - Trick

Brown Door.

That is all you know. That is all there is.

You want to scream, but you can't.
You want to cry, but you can't.
You wish you could go home, but you can't. So instead...

...you just knock on the brown door.

Almost immediately, a man in a convincingly real skeleton costume leeeaaaannnsss out the door.

"What a great costume. You're here for candy?" He asks.

You try to scream for help again, but this time all that comes out is "CANDY".

Just then, like a well-oiled machine, he instantly pulls you inside. Drags you across his home and into his strange, sterile kitchen in a flash.

He throws open the door to a large walk-in freezer and before you is the corpse of a well-dressed, smiling man.

"Help yourself," the skeleton man says to you.

Unable to run, you look around the shelves for anything you can take that isn't a human being.

Candy! Perfect! You grab a piece.

"Got yer fill?" the skeleton man cheerfully exclaims.

"Yup!" you find yourself barking back.

Suddenly, just as you dragged there, you are dragged back.

Outside.

Back to the brown door.

The Skeleton man stands there proudly with his hands on his hips.

"Have a spooky night!" he says.

Before you could even think about it, you run away as fast as you can.

You don't know where, or how, or why. But you run.

You run until your legs ache, and your lungs burn.

You run until you can't anymore, and you look up to see

A Brown Door.

I LOVE ITTTTT. I loved the idea y'all pitched initially, n it turned out even better than I imaged :DD

Submitted(+1)

Plus, the music is trippy yet catchy

Submitted(+2)

Not sure how to described what happened. I felt like in a Lars Von Trier movie.

Submitted(+2)

The aesthetic is amazing! Everything is so surreal.

Submitted(+2)

Wow. The screams for "candy" as you try to have "your fill" is very surreal. Amazing atmosphere.

Submitted(+1)

Great art style and overall aesthetic. I was curious to see if the game was leading up to something, but there didn't seem to be any kind of ending or resolution. Still, very cool.

this game is weird

Submitted(+1)

Your artists really pulled off the PS1 aesthetic very well!
