Cool game, was a bit hard to understand at first but it made sense after a few tries. I like the risk-reward element of choosing to take less orbs but having less time as a result.

I think it would be cool to have wires between the orbs and the things they activate so the player knows what they are activating.

Also the more precise jumping sections could benefit from adding coyote time to the jumps, especially the level where you have to platform up one tile blocks.

Overall well done!

Glad you enjoyed it!

There is a little coyote time, actually, but I agree that I should increase it a little (currently is 4 frames).

I thought on the feedback of activated traps but was running out of time. My idea was to display an exclamation above each of the activated traps. Good suggestion.

Thanks for the feedback!

Just a heads-up that the game was flagged as a virus by Windows 10.

Developer

Windows 10 always protects against running random .exe files from the internet, I don't know if I can do anything, but I would look at that problem. Thanks for playing!

I know about that protection. All downloadable games from the jam triggered it. However, after I said to run anyways, a second warning appeared that was a lot more direct and didn't even leave me the option to ignore it.

Took some times to understand the core mechanics, but after that it was fun. For some reason it reminded me of MeatBoy. Controls, animations and assets all looked perfect together.

Developer(+1)

I would have liked to tutorialize better the main mechanic with more introductory levels, but I was running out of time.

Super Meat Boy is one of my favourite platformers along with Celeste!

Thanks for the feedback!

Amazing controls and art! I really felt in control all the time. I also liked the optimization aspect that you could sometimes "cheat" a bit by picking up some powerups without hitting the platforms, or just skipping some powerups completely. I kinda see the theme too, maybe with more different kinds of collectibles it would be even more clear. :)

Developer

Glad you liked it!

My main reasoning was that this mechanic allowed for different gameplay styles, whether you like to speed through the levels or take your time by taking more powerups.

Game looks great, controls are responsive, however I didn't initially understand the main mechanic. I thought I had to get every orb and made the levels really hard for myself.

I also thought you could jump through the bottom of some platforms because they look that way but they have full tile hitboxes.

Overall fun to play, on the harder side but still not too hard.

Developer(+1)

I agree that I could have tutorialized the main mechanic better with more introductory levels, the difficulty curve is off currently.

Also you are completely right about the platforms. All solids share the same square hitbox but some have shorter tiles

Thanks for playing!

the art is awesome. platforming feels great.
But could you add input for the normal arrows as well. and also having the jump on the up keys? The relation of the buttons makes it difficult to  get smooth platforming.

I should have thought on additional control patterns and not only in the one I liked, sorry.

It is not really too much work but I forgot about it.

Thanks for playing!

Sound effects and art are super appropriate and makes the game fun to play!! The theme however doesnt really match are there is an enemy but you arent your enemy......

Developer

Thanks for playing and for the nice comments!

With respect to the theme, my reasoning was that by picking energy for the robot  on your first run you activate traps that make its path more difficult, hence the you are your enemy.

oh ok i didnt look at it that way! As a player (at least in my perspective) it looked like we had to collect fuel for our robot and then escape but great thinking!!
