The real capitalism was the gay we made along the way...
Short and sweet; surprisingly dense with different sprites and backgrounds (nice pictures :D) and I like the idea of representing Chimata's rainbow design as, well, the rainbow too.
so many poses........lotsa drawing going on here. also contains what i believe is called a "rarepair". artificial scarcity? capitalism? cool game. i hope they get a million dollars before they have to flee the country due to mafia-esque debtor chasing
"so many poses..."
Is tHaT a J- ...Naw what probably happened is that Chimata returns all the money to them in the form of gay cards, and taught the gangstas how to harness all the intrinsic gay. Everyone lives happily ever after. Thanks for coming to my TED talk (and playin).
This VN takes about 10 minutes, and is a short and sweet (emphasis on sweet) little read.
I find myself intrigued by the idea and potential of this story; Chimata has always been a fascinating character to me and this story makes an attempt to create some interesting characterizations for her and some of the other, newer characters. I'd have loved to see it more fleshed out, but I understand this was the team's first attempt at a VN and had a lot going on, so I can't judge too harshly. The Outside World stuff was a tad confusing (a fuller explanation for context would have certainly helped in this respect), though some of it is no fault of the writers; "rainbow capitalism" can sometimes have a negative connotation, so it was hard to shake that out of my head when reading, which likely impacted my perspective at least a little bit.
All in all, I found the premise to be solid, the main pairing to be particularly interesting and the writing to be very sweet and full of innocence and compassion. If there's interest in making this a bigger project, I'd love to see the final project. (Also, props to making it support multiple languages, that's something which isn't in many of these submissions!)
Oh this is by no means my first VN, though it is my first [Ren'Py] project heh. Yeah, I decided to go small here out of awareness of the limited headcount of the project and the fact that I was practically afk for more than half the jam period 0.0 As for rainbow capitalism, there's no positive or negative connotation intended in the VN, but I was making a reference to how (CW/ sad state of current events) corporations had faced pressure to tone down on pride themed merch and aesthetics during the past Pride Month, at least, here in America. Which is by no means a good thing, but the VN had no further undertones aside from raising awareness. And finally, thanks for playing and glad you enjoyed it!
Ahh! Just like Chimata said, I wish it could have lasted longer. I was hoping the story would take us with Chimata and Takane (what an unexpected pairing!) while we explored this new currency. Just like Medal, I really liked the piano arrangement of Megumu’s theme. The art was simple but expressive. Nice job. I can’t really read Japanese, but kudos on translating your game to another language.
Thanks for posting! I know it could've been longer but I started out with the smallest scope I could come up with for.. reasons ^^; Glad you enjoyed!
Short and sweet! I kind of saw the end coming, but it didn't impair my enjoyment at all. I like that you took the time to translate it to Japanese as well! These little things add so much value to a game, especially when it's made under a strict deadline. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for playing! Ironically, this experience made me realize how much further I need to go to actually call myself a translator heh.
That was a really good core metaphor backing the overall story.
That's a pretty interesting read. I didn't know about rainbow capitalism but it makes so much sense that it would affect our local market god. It's so clever that I'm still smiling from it.
Also, good music tracks. Loved the piano arrange of Starry Mountain of Tenma, it was perfect for the game's mood.
Thanks for playing! I did have fun thinking up the premise and all
