Simple game, but well made. I included it in part 2 of my Public Domain Jam 2 compilation video series, if you would like to check it out :) https://youtu.be/Zm3F461UAZo

Oh yeah, forgot to mention: the only think I don't like about the game is the title.

As with everyone I really liked the sound and graphics, but not having any idea of why I keep losing is rather annoying.

I adore the low-res almost Gameboy-esque aesthetic. Set the mood very well. Mechanically it was a little hard to understand what was happening. First play I waited to see the beast before throwing the harpoon and died, second time I spammed the harpoon while in the darkness and (assume) I won, as the game ended. Adding a little ship movement mechanically (even just slight) and the ability to only attack in the lightning storms would be cool, if that was the overall experience you were after.

Agree 100% with Daniel Mullins. Minimalist graphics and music, done very well.

However, it was unclear why I would lose. Did time run out? Did the boat crash into the whale? Also didn't know i could throw spears until nothing happened for a while, and I pressed spacebar.

I was surprised when the whale went down in three spear-shots. Is that how it goes in the book? Because it was way easier than I thought it would be . . .

This is a nice little game! Really like the art & sound design!

(btw, also in this jam, with my game HummingBird Haunting. Check it out? I'm eager for feedback: norbez.itch.io/hummingbird-haunting)

Nice mood created with minimal audio visual elements. Slaying the whale was gratifying.
