It was great! Honestly, I enjoyed every second playing this game. This type of games is exactly my favorite indie game, and it makes it even better :D , definitely try it if you are a fan of storylined games !!! :D
Loved it. Not what I was expecting at all!
(Minor spoilers ahead)
Summer at Marisol Bay is a decently sized VN about a resort where you, Kyro, got hired as a "mascot" pirate and get to learn about the resort and the people there. The game has 2 love interests, Liam and Wyatt, who you will be able to interact with throughout the story. The story includes multiple side characters aswell such as Ms. V, the first character you'll meet, Brook, one of your crewmates who you'll be generally working with, and a couple others. The art of this game is amazing, although as far as I know there are no special scenes with their own images. The music and sound design is just as good as the art, each song and sound fitting very well with the location and mood. The writing, while not being perfect, is still very good and creates a believable story with likeable characters. Each scene you get to spend time with whoever you choose feels real and makes you want to learn more about them.
Now this is when I'm gonna bring in my personal opinion on this game (which will include bigger spoilers, you have been warned. Go to the last paragraph to avoid them) . To be honest, I don't like Wyatt, he seems far too friendly and his "jokes" are more annoying than they are funny. I like how the game actually gives me choices that way I can actually vocalize this, but the big issue is that the choices don't actually matter, the story will force you to spend time with both Liam and Wyatt which with the time frame this VN was made I can't fault too much. Brook, who's preictally one of the main characters, is such a likeable person, more than both Wyatt and Liam to be honest. Her personality is great and she's written so well, I would be BFF's with her irl. Liam is pretty enjoyable, although his personality is very generic, *insert person who's mean to you when you first meet but opens up to you* kind of generic, but I like him anyways. For the big choice of who to choose to help, Liam or Wyatt, I actually chose Wyatt. With everything I've said it seems like a no-brainer that I'd pick Laim but I honestly agree with what Brook wants the park to be, I don't want it to turn into some fancy shmuck, I might like Liam more, but I just don't agree with him on this. I honestly didn't expect the secret at the end of the story though, the hints were obvious enough, but they just didn't click with me so it was a fin surprise.
Overall Summer at Marisol Bay is an enjoyable experience that I'd recommend that you play, It's not perfect but considering this game was only made in 2 months, it's a definite worthwhile experience.
Wyatt won my fashion sense, Liam won my heart.
I loved this jam 🥺
What a fantastic read! I really enjoyed your game, and I'm seriously considering becoming a patron to try the next episode ahead of time!
Created an itch account just to rate the game!
I don't normally do visual novels for various reasons, but this was recommended to me by a friend, and I'm so happy I tried it!
