This jam is hosted by STLGameDev for all game creators in the St. Louis MO region

👻 Spooky Season is once again upon us...👻
Time to make fun spooky things!

The theme is...

Interpret the theme however you want. It should be used as a creative spark for your creations!

📅 Timeline

  • Theme Reveal: Thursday, October 1st @ 7 PM. We will kick off the jam with a short online presentation.

  • Jam Duration: October 1st → October 18th

  • Game Submissions: due by 11 PM on October 18th!

  • Showcase: October 29th @ 6:30pm at Maryville University Design & Visual Art Building Rm 103. Present your finished project to the community!

🎮 Rules & Guidelines

  1. Entries should be made during the jam period.

  2. Entries should be "spooky" as in creepy, scary, horror, or even loosely halloween-related (includes traditional monsters, jack-o-lanterns, candy, costumes, trick or treating, or something similar). Entries should also be inspired by the theme but can interpret it in any way they like.

  3. CONTENT: Horror themes are totally acceptable, but NSFW content is NOT allowed. All entries should generally be PG-13 at most. No graphic violence, gore, nudity, sexual content, or language. Some blood is fine, as long as it's not too graphic. Please just use moderation. If you really want to make something more extreme, go for it, but you must give a content warning on your itch.io page and you won't be able to show it off at the showcase! It's also totally okay to make something cute and cozy that is loosely related to Halloween and the theme!

  4. Entries must be submitted by the deadline in order to be presented at the showcase.

  5. We encourage everyone to make games but we will accept creations of all kinds for this jam. Feel free to make a video game, board game, card game, visual art, comic, zine, song, music album, visual novel, poem, short story, sculpture... anything!

  6. Participants are encouraged to collaborate with others. Making stuff together is more fun! You can contribute to multiple projects if you'd like.

  7. Any game engine or tools may be used. This includes AI, but fair warning: you may get dagger eyes from some members of the community! You must indicate any use of AI on your project. Any assets used and all collaborators should be credited on the project page as well.

  8. We also encourage everyone to continue working on their projects after the jam if they want to! We recommended creating a new itch.io page instead for post-jam versions in order to preserve your jam entry and the history of your work, but this is not required. Itch.io also supports multiple file uploads, so you can also upload updated versions to the same page and keep the jam version there. The devlog feature is a nice way to keep a history of your updates if you want to use it.

  9. Projects must be free to play and download. A web build is highly encouraged as this makes it easier for everyone to experience your creation. For non-digital works, please upload an image, video, or some kind of recording so that others can get an idea of what you made.
