Cool Game, the mechanics were really hard and confusing because i can't really move even after spamming my mouse buttons :v, but music and art is quite detailed, and it's a pretty creative game!
Sorry to hear you had issues with it. The game is really timing(almost rhythm)-based, and kinda ensures that players can't progress by just spamming mouse clicks.
Thank you for giving it a try though!
Original controls and polished gameplay, really nice
Thank you so much!!
I rage quit in space, so that might be a foddian success! lol
But for real, it genuinely felt way too random for me to know when the boat would just turn around completely at random, when it would tilt the way I'm holding or not, and whether it would just break on place or get completely thrown off very far away (maybe I just didn't notice enough indicators for these things, it just felt quite unclear).
It didn't really help either that, after breaking the boat, I'd inevitably hug an obstacle and almost always had to get hit at least 2 or 3 times there before being able to get back on track (just to get hit a few seconds later and be forced to repeat the whole process).
I feel that, to me, combining all of that together resulted in a deep frustration that didn't stem as much from the loss of progress as it did for the repetitiveness and constant feeling of not being in control of anything most of the time.
It might very well be just a personal skill issue honestly, it's just I don't think I even got to lose a ton of progress at any point and I still got triggered (which isn't usual because foddian games often make me urge to keep trying for a long time, with a good kind of frustration), so I thought it was worth pointing out hów that felt to me.
Other than that, I do think the concept is interesting and the aesthetics and sound fit very well.
Thanks for your feedback. I'm sorry to hear the mechanics gave you such a hard time :( The boat position after crashing could definitely use some work.
As for the direction of tilting, the canoe is supposed to move in the direction opposite to the oar, like how it works in real life. I tried adding a few visual indicators to show how strongly you're rowing and how damaged the boat is, but I will consider putting a better explanation of the mechanics in the future.
I wasn't completely sold on the controls at the start although I think I got better once I realized there's a rhythm to it. I didn't get very far into the "deep space" area but I can already see how the gravity wells and tunnels would make the game great for speedrunning.
It's a cool concept, the storytelling explains the gameplay well and adds to the charm, plus all the characters are very cute. The graphics and music are great as well, good job!
Yea it can be fun once you get into the "flow" ^__^ I would love to see some cool speedruns for sure!
Thank you for all your kind words!
I had to refresh the page several times because the game froze at the dialogue with a transparent layer over it and wouldn't proceed. However, after that, I managed to get it working. It was quite challenging, and I believe I might have worn out my mouse if I had continued. Great job on the entry!
Darn, sorry you had to deal with those issues. They seem to be exclusive to the WebGL build, but at least you got to play it some.
Thanks for giving it a try!
i did'nt know how to control the boat and stuck , once i figured it out it turned on to be really fun to play , i spent 10m wandering around in first stage until i hit that spike thing i tought it was an obstical , also the art style is unique
Ah, I'm glad to hear you figured it out and enjoyed it!
There's a narrator who's supposed to tip you in on the spike thing, but there's a bug that makes the narrator sometimes not show, so sorry if that was the issue for you :/
he dose show up but he was too fast that i could not read all the text , so i tought it was not important
Lovely polished and unique game, music slaps, visuals are eye catching and gameplay is fun.
I think one note would to move the movement keys to the keyboard imo, because it gets a little uncomfortable after a while clicking and holding the mouse button. Also from a practical stand point it being a browser game sometimes the mouse can interact with the browser or unfocus from the game.
Really enjoyed it though well done
Thank you, I'm glad you like it!! It really means a lot!
That's a good point. Even without removing the mouse inputs, there's no reason we can't have both as an option. Will definitely add in the future!
The visuals are really good, great use of shaders. The controls are hard but the game is forgiving, I had very few losses of progress. It was an interesting experience.
By the way, it took me 27 minutes to beat, but for some reason it didn't submit to the leaderboard... Maybe a network issue on my side, no idea.
Thank you so much!! I'm glad to hear you made it through.
So sorry you didn't get to submit though.. For some reason, it seems like my game's build doesn't always work correctly when you first start it up. If you restart the page and check again, you should see the leaderboard working.
I'll remember your score in my heart though <3
Good lord.
it's nice, hard to manage you boat but it has some clever features
Thanks!
There's definitely more that could have been done to make the boat management a bit more intuitive.
