Even from the first 5 seconds, absolutely love the style you're going for! You've captured the feel of a foddian game immediately, and produced an interesting movement mechanic that's equal parts frustrating and rewarding. Although I wasn't able to finish it, can really appreciate the direction of the design on this. Great job
Loved the homage! I may suggest one thing, replacing the string with a harpoon could add a lot to this theme. Wouldn't even require significant gameplay changes, just a different VFX. But still. Banger of an experience. I hate your voice now, haha
The foddianest game I've played in this jam yet, could not get to the purple ship that requires a big vertical jump in 15 minutes and gave up. Only learned about holding the mouse down after 10 minutes by reading the description, should have been stated in the game iteself. Falling so slowly makes it a bit too frustrating, I would have played more if it wasn't for that. Great entry!
I guess if I could devote more time to it I would have figured it out eventually. If it wasn't in a jam maybe it would be ok not to explain it. But maybe not given the kind of game. I suppose that mechanic is important to get to the purple ship? I just couldn't figure out how to jump to get there. I don't understand it even from watching the video of your playthrough.
Nightmarishly difficult and strangely wholesome. Perfectly balanced, as all things should be.
Jokes aside, I was hoping for a strange experience from the title and banner of your game, and it definitely delivered. I spent 20 minutes on the game like it was a breeze, and I couldn't even get after the third board on the initial section. The fact that I kept trying so much is an amazing sign of a good Foddian game (and I'm planning to keep trying later today!).
The only thing I missed was an ambience sound. The game is very chill with the voice-over and ocean aesthetics, and I understand if you prefer no background music at all; but I think some ocean/wave white noise would be a huge complement to the overall feel of the game.
Amazing game, it's on my radar if you ever with to keep developing it.
Thank you for playing!
I made sure one of the hardest jumps in the game is right at the beginning, just to be sure to start the frustration as soon as possible, thats the jump you are referring to (third boat).
It totally has an ambience music (an underwater noise) but the volume is quite low so it is easy missed, I should definitely turn it up a bit!
Aah, I was playing without my headphones, so maybe that's on me. Although if I missed the ambience sound, it's probably too low, because the voice-over was in a pretty comfortable volume.
The hardest jump being at the beginning it's totally fine (I imagined this was a difficult spike by design), it definitely made me more invested in getting over it (ha) to see what the rest of the game is like. Again, amazing game (and voice over!). If I ever get after the first part, I'll share a screenshot at the game page hahaha.
Very nice atmosphere. The voice was very soothing and the bubbles and other sound effects were perfect. Art was unique and very good.
The fall at the beginning was cruel😭 Very beautiful & aesthetically pleasing. The level design is creative and it is a creative remix on the original. Very good!
