Welcome to our game jam! We'll be working from Thursday, January 23rd through Thursday, February 23rd. Below you'll find the class schedule, as well as the theme, rules and quick tips on getting started.
Theme & Extras
Theme: Mystery/Murder Mystery
The Rules
- You must incorporate the theme of Mystery in some way
- You must have three endings
- Each story line needs at least five choices
- You are limited to Twine as your game engine
- You may use Harlowe or SugarCube as your story format.
- You may use assets (images, sounds, etc.) that you've created or those on Open Game Art only.
- You must give attribution according to the original artists’ guidelines.
- Your title page options should include the game's rating and content warnings, as well as "Start" and "Credits" options.
- Credit any art or assets you've used from Open Game Art based on the creators listed guidelines. This can be found on the asset’s page under Copyright/Attribution Notice.
- You must upload your game to itch.io and turn in the link on Blackboard by Thursday, February 23rd at 9:30 pm.
Getting Started & Tips
- Get an itch.io account
- Sign up for the game jam here
- Brainstorm your game
- You should begin with the end in mind - create your three endings first so you know where you're going!
- Give your game a working title. You can change it before you turn it in, but by the end of the jam it should have a title
- A good title - not "Mystery Game" :)
- After each session, download your game as an HTML file (Build > Publish to File) so you'll have a backup.
- Add the backup to your chosen cloud server as well.
