Must the game show a bunny or can it just describe one? You see, I will be using Twine, and I realise that it makes image incorporation quite tricky.

HostSubmitted

Hello Bobnibu! You are allowed to describe a bunny since you are using Twine which is a text base engine (from what I recall). It's perfectly a-okay for the game. Since I don't want to make it so that you have a hard time creating the game since adding a image in twine is tricky. (I haven't use twine before so I'm not sure how adding images works)

In a nutshell: Text adventure games are perfectly fine for this jam as long as the bunny is described.  Since images aren't the only way you can show something in a game.
I hope this answers your question, and thank you for asking this question.

Thanks for that. 😀

Does the game have to entirely be in space?

HostSubmitted

Hello GanguEevee, the entire game doesn't have to take place in space.
Space can just be something beyond earth. The game could take place in a rocket ship or on a planet way different from earth.
Or maybe it takes place on earth though a meteor is going to crash onto earth destroying the planet, so they send up a bunny to save the day.

The game just has to have something space like but it doesn't have to be in outer space. I hope that makes sense.

Thank you for asking this question and I hope you have a wonderful day.

I've never created a game. I was hoping to join but just do concept art would that be allowed? Thanks.

HostSubmitted

Hello Linnaine! The Space Bunny jam is a jam that deals with creating a game.  I would say you could use the crowforge page that this jam has to look for a team. Someone who can code so you can do the art. https://crowdforge.io/jams/spacebunnyjam

Or you can use a simple engine which doesn't need coding which are. RPG Maker there's different types of rpg maker engines, the prices range on these engines though. There's also the Bitsy Engine which is free and is right on Itch.io (https://ledoux.itch.io/bitsy).

Hopefully if I plan this jam next year, I'll add in that comics and art is allowed, though this years Space Bunny Jam is about creating games. I hope this answers your question, I do hope you have a nice day.

A bit of an important question here: What counts as/actions are considered as animal cruelty? I'm making a game with combat in it and my sister (who is also working on the game with me and is too shy to ask herself) is wondering if that's a good idea since she believes that would count.

HostSubmitted (1 edit)

Hello GanguEevee, thank you for the question. What counts as animal cruelty would be if the character is attacking innocent animals that aren’t harming anyone but the character attacks them and hurts them just because of the fun of it. A combat game is fine, there are cute animal games with combat mechanics and they aren’t animal cruelty. Mostly the game shouldn't promote harming animals as fun like a good thing since it’s not. Like if it’s a rpg combat game like Pokémon where cute animals fight, it’s alright since it doesn’t promote animal cruelty. (;w; well I think Pokémon is a cute wholesome game with no cruelty, I hope this example makes sense. Just don’t do something like that Pokémon rip off game that PETA made since that shows blood and is actually more of a cruelty game even though it’s trying to say Pokémon is all that stuff when Pokémon never showed blood or having the Pokémon look in pain ;D sorry for my random peta talk, just that game does more harm than good in my opinion ) ;w; hope these examples help.

ÓvÒ I hope this makes sense, if you still have a question feel free to ask. I hope you and your sister have a wonderful day.

Can i present my project as a demo of the game ?

HostSubmitted

Hello GamePadTheory, you can present your project as a demo. ÒvÓ)b prototype or demos are find for this jam since it’s all about just creative a version of the game you are comfortable with.
