This jam is now over. It ran from 2023-05-21 23:00:00 to 2023-05-29 15:00:00. View 3 entries

The Venue & Duration

The game jam will last for exactly 1 week, from this Monday to the next (22nd of May to 29th of May) with a submission deadline of 16:00 on the 29th. You may use JM007 (primarily) or any other lab available from 09:00 to 21:00 across these days. (Please double check the weekends are also available as I can’t tell on the timetabling app).

You may also use Discord for this if you prefer to work remotely, as the game jam is completely hybrid and we understand some people are not around.

Here is the link for the jam Disc server:

The idea is you can use it to either work remotely or LFG. Please make sure you do join as we will be using it to announce the winners.

The Rules & Registration

Please make sure you register on the following Game Jam link: https://itch.io/jam/solent-end-of-year-jam-2023

Please also make sure you adhere to the following rules when forming a team:

  • Solent students only.
  • Your team can be up to 5 people. Make sure everyone’s names are part of your game’s description on Itch.io as well as their roles.
  • You must submit a working build before the game jam's deadline to be eligible for judging.
  • Alongside your build, you must also submit a video presentation in which you showcase your game. There’s no time limitation on the video. Submit it alongside the build on Itch.io.

Judging

The games submitted will be judged by Solent Computer Games Staff and are based on the following criteria:

  • Concept (25%)
  • Fun Factor (25%)
  • User Experience (25%)
  • Juice (25%)

Judging will happen exclusively online through the game build and video. No  live presentations are required.

The game jam results will be announced on Tuesday the 30th via a live stream on the jam Discord server.

The Theme

The so waited theme is the following:

“United we stand, divided we fall”

All game genres, themes, settings, engines, tools, art, and narrative styles are allowed.

Hints & Tips

  • Work on producing builds as early as possible so you don’t rush last minute.
  • Ensure you are bug-fixing as you go. You don’t want to submit a broken build.
  • Be mindful of your game’s scope. It can make or break the entire game.
  • Single-player games, please! So we can easily test and judge :)

Enjoy the jam, have fun, and may the best game win!
