Fun little game here! Had a decent amount of progression and a good feeling of power progression as you collected power ups.

Some improvements that I would recommend:

  • The walking sound is a bit too loud/grating. Recommend quieting it down a bit and making it a bit lower frequency
  • Some of the sounds (like the boss's lightning attack) were very loud compared to others
  • Some sort of pathing for enemies so they don't get stuck in walls

Overall, I really liked the following:

  • Attack sounds overall were really nice, along with most of the enemy hit sounds
  • Animations were fun to watch!
  • Enemy AI was pretty fun, had a decent amount of variety when you were actually fighting them

loved it! that boss had a lot more than i expected, well done! a lot of the animations were super smooth too. i can totally see thing being a full game with new weapons, skills, etc added in

An incredible voxel game! Sweet animations, cool that you were able to procedurally generate the dungeons! The enemies are varied and the whole atmosphere is one of lost / confusion, great job!

Developer

Thank you so much :D

The procedural generation was nice! I also greatly appreciate the arrow leading you to the exit after defeating the Great Wizard because I felt so lost the entire time. One thing I would add is better feedback when you kill something (maybe a rewarding sound or animation). Sometimes it would be difficult to tell if I killed one of the teleporting wizard guys.

I saw your reply on this, but it was hard to figure out how the theme tied in. Overall a very well done and polished game.

Yeah, it would be great if we could have had more time to polish  the "juice". We're actually talking about making a full release roguelike version for steam, so all the feedback we can get is appreciated! Thank you for playing :)

Loved the art, sfx, and polish. Slightly confused if lower sanity changes anything, but well done.

Thank you so much for playing!!

One of my favorite games of the jam so far ! Really love the Art and the atmosphere ! The story at the beginning was very nice too !
Well done !

I loved the art and music!! visual effects were also very nice, and the minimap was quite helpful :) my only issues were sometimes I was unable to go through some single block paths, with no indication that they weren't meant to be accessible.

Thank you!! Some colliders were a bit buggy with the procedural generation, but for the most part the game generated colliders normally. Glad you enjoyed :)

The game seems to be very high quality and well made. Love the art, animations, sounds are good, mechanics seem solid. The teleporting mages are cool and the boss battle was fun.

My main criticism is that I cannot understand where the theme fits, or what the sanity bar is for. I did not find that having any impact.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! The story was supposed to be that the Wizard had cursed the cave meaning the more you discovered, the crazier you would get. This means when you first enter, not knowing what to expect, you are at bliss, and your sanity bar is full.
