Captures what is essential in a game, powerful in a story, and brilliant in a work of art.
A hilarious subversion of RPG tropes that allows you to go out of your way to set up a swarm of ridiculous combos.
Basically what you'd get if Spore, QWOP, and Rampage were fused into one game. Fun, and I definitely want to see more, but definitely the kind of game you only play when you want to pretend to be submerged in pudding the whole time.
It's an RPG, alright. Kind of throws you right in there without a story compelling enough to warrant the stale turn based combat.
Homing is a very short (a few minutes) somewhat interactive experience where you watch a carrier pigeon fly with a note. You have minimal controls over the pigeon - you can make it fly more to the right or more to the left, so you have a little bit of control of what parts of the small town you see most clearly. The background music is soft and gentle, as are the rainy sound effects. While flying, you hear a narration of the contents. The voice acting is actually done quite well, you can hear emotion in the reader's voice and it fits the character. She is writing a very personal life update to her former wife. As the letter goes on, a few details of their relationship and the circumstances surrounding it are revealed. (You may or may not find the ending as predictable as I did). I would have liked it better if there was more for me as the player to actually exert control over. Even just the ability to fly lower to inspect the buildings or higher to see a view from high above the clouds might have made it feel more substantial. As it is, this is more like watching an animated short. Recommended for: People who like very sentimental stories about love and grief or who just want to spend a couple of minutes watching a low-poly pigeon.
