I would have been glad to grow up with this game, years ago, at the period I was alterning between Bahamut Lagoon, Golden Sun and FF6 / FFT.
It's totally pro, and SGB is mastered.
Congrats !
awe, that's too kind and overwhelmingly heart warming, thank you.
I've not properly played through yet, but from what I've played so far I must say that this is a work of art in itself. This is the graphical style that is now associated with Drass (having played through Adventures of Scion and in anticipation of Alterium Shift).
The "big boss" introduction scenes, reminiscent of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, are very well done to give that sense of dread and anticipation. Plus I like the shifting between parties to give multiple perspectives.
The combat is fairly balanced to reflect the areas in which they take place, but you don't need to unnecessarily grind to be able to defeat monsters. I do, however, have a new pet dislike of Mountain Wasps (usually it's Spiders).
This is a stunning game and showcases just what SGB can do.
You're too kind, Wulf. lol really thank you so much.
There was so much to "wow" at here! My eyes kept popping out at the visuals: sprites, models, camera work and environmental design!
A lot of work went into this, and I almost feel bad that it must have taken so much time away from Alterium Shift, but I'm so glad you somehow found the time (got a hyperbolic time chamber? Can I borrow it???)! This is a great quality example of what the engine can do in capable hands, and really maintained the high quality of the submissions here. Thanks so much for submitting!
And I need to say this, I was VERY appreciative of the balance and flow of the combat -- whatever your philosophy / approach is, it's working great and I hope you stick to it!
(disclaimer: comment is based on what I've played so far -- I haven't even made it to the end of the demo yet!)
Thank you very much for the kind words, Ash! (DrassRay speaking)
Don't feel bad, it was my decision to participate, and while I spent more time on this than I was anticipating, I'm happy I did and I'm really happy with the final product. At least one of the bosses (probably more) I made for this will be making a move over to Alterium Shift as well. Plus, the experimenting I did with some of the puzzle mechanics will probably make their way over as well so, it was time very well spent in my mind. That, and I'm always excited to push my limits.
I'm happy to hear you like the balance, I was a little iffy on it myself because it's always hard to tell how someone else will view it, my main philosophy is to make it where if you rush through the game, you'll probably have a harder time, but if you explore a little you'll be well prepared for the next section.
Anyway, thanks again, I'm looking forward to your video play-through(s) lol
The only bad part about this is that it's a demo! So good! The art is lovely (the plant boss reminded me of FFIX). Very polished. Can't wait to see the full game!
Thank you very much. Iphindalda was inspired by the Plant Brain boss from FFIX :) I really appreciate the kind words.
This is a fantastic game! There are only a few minor transfer event bugs that I found while playing it. Very well polished and so far the best game from this game jam.
