I LOVE this painting! FYI, there's a poem by WH Auden about it: Musee des Beaux Arts. The poem is in English. What a great choice of a myth for a seed. If anyone wants to consider the poem, too, here's the link:

I've never heard of this poem before, gonna check it out for sure!!! Icarus is one of my favorites myths at all. I also love this painting, even though I got to know it searching by the poem that shares name with it by William Carlos Williams
