  • There's still a lot of work to go, but there's a lot of promise to the design of this prototype. The animations are smooth and whilst not yet balanced the menu and combat set up is functional and works pretty well. I'd love to see where you take the concept of this game!

I couldn't get past the second level, it was way too hard...

Sifficulty is something I really struggle with too, and it's a mistake I too made with my submission...

I remember hearing that if the game is the perfect difficulty for the developer, it means it's WAY to hard for the players...

Overall good game tho:

really good sound desing,

really good graphics,

really good mechanics,

well done!

I thought this was a fantastic take and twist on Pokemon. I enjoyed the play-through. I got killed a lot in the beginning, but I started to collect items and put up more of a decent fight. Great Work.

Hey Aznoqmous!

I managed to reach the end! ...or did I? O.o Haha overall a very fun idea. Being chased down by rabid demonic creatures and battling like pokemon is a really fun idea. Also, read through your page and I totally understand the overscoping and running out of time to get everything polished up -- same thing happened in my entry. I am gonna leave out the bugs you already mentioned from my review since you already know.

A couple notes after playing:

  • There were a few times where I had to manually kick the encounter menu into gear by pressing escape -- it would just stay stuck on the initial encounter screen with no menu text. Figured it out though after a second :) just wanted to let you know.
  • The damage coming from the pokemon is SUPER high. I died a few times even using potions and bandages just because they were outdamaging the heals. I mainly just tried to last as long as possible and run away from encounters since that would make them go away. I understand that I am probably supposed to avoid them in the first place, but even that was pretty difficult since once they locked on there wasn't really any way to hide or juke them since the corridors are so tight and I couldn't tell if they would ever stop chasing you if you got out of sight.

What I liked:

  • The music when the pokemon start coming for you... ooweeee! I loved it. The constantly ascending pitch made it stressful as heck and really added life to the chases.
  • The art style is really fun! I love the Ash rendition and the demonic pokemon art.
  • I did like the random placement of the ladders/traps! The fact that I never really knew where I was supposed to escape to definitely made the experience a bit more stressful. (I did notice that after an encounter one of the ladders I was near moved to a different location. Maybe I am crazy and was hallucinating a ladder there but I could have swore there was one there before an encounter and then it disappeared)
