Overall a pretty decent game!
It was sometimes a bit hard to control and to kill enemies, sometimes they didn't seem to actually be destroyed when being hit by an asteroid. As others have mentioned, maybe adding something like being able to repel enemies would be useful as well. I also thought the lowest tier scrap was an asteroid as well, as they looked pretty similar. The graphics and sound were pretty good though!

Good job :)

Graphic, Gameplay and difficulty are all spot on! Really enjoyable game! Good Work

Nice implementation of the theme, there could be a better way of destroying enemies, but good game on the whole.

Developer (1 edit)

Well, the difficult way to destroy enemies is intentional since you're supposed to not only destroy them but change their position for your advantage. But, thanks for the review!

Nice game. As one of the comments said, it becomes a bullet hell because you can't really do much with the pulling mechanic. It's too dangerous compared to just outright avoiding it.

Developer (2 edits)

well that's only true if you let enemies stack on the screen.  To get a high score you need to destroy the enemies and reposition them with the magnet since some of them don't go back to their original spots once destroyed, but thanks for the review.

Oh ok. That changes the perspective if that’s the case.

I like this and its pretty straighforward gameplay-wise. Overall nice submission you got there. ^^

Pretty cool game! The art was pleasing, and gameplay was well implemented. Although since you could only pull enemies, it was pretty difficult to eliminate many of them, so it kinda felt more like a bullet hell, which maybe was intentional. I think it probably would've been better to have a repel feature as well. But still, a really well made game! :)

Developer (1 edit)

Yeah, the gameplay is supposed to be more bullet hellish. A repel feature that would be like a bomb with a long cooldown was planned but there wasn't enough time to design and implement it. But thanks for the review!

Really nice and pleasant artstyle. The menu screen and the death screen look amazing, and the background for the game looks dreamy. I didn't like some sounds though, particularly for the enemies shooting. Doesn't seem to fit them at all. And also, at first I thought that lowes tier scrap was another form of asteroids and was actively avoiding them hahaha. But overall the game impression is good, I definitely liked it!

Music was nice, and so was the pixel art style. Being able to pull in the ships with your magnet was fun as well, maybe pushing them away by changing the polarity would have been even better. But regardless it's a very fun game.

Awesome game! Loved the background and aesthetics along with the sound and overall everything looked polish and ran well, so nice job!

Pulling the enemy ships into asteroids is very fun ^-^ nice work! What do the boxes and stuff do for me though when I pick them up?

Developer

Thanks! The boxes and stuff are only for extra points, the more valuable the more points it gives.

Really like the visuals and design. Gameplay was fun too. Best strategy seemed to be to stick to the middle of the screen cause there's no chance to react if you move to close to the edge of the screen. The magnet pull was pretty satisfying. Well done

Hi! I played your game just now and it was really fun! Here is some more detailed comments:

  • I liked a lot both the visual Aesthetics and the musical atmosphere. The graphics were clear and looked nice. I especially liked the planets of the background. The music was really fitting and created a good atmosphere for playing.
  • The game concept was clearly inspired by magnets. I feel this game follows the theme in a good and non-trivial way. Also, in many other games the magnets has been used to collect the rewards but here they are also used to kill enemies which I liked. Also, it made positioning super important as pulling enemies close in wrong circumstances leads to more harm than good. Player needs to take into account both enemy position and nearby asteroid positions to play well.
  • The game difficulty was appropriate. It was easy at first but then quickly become more difficult. The good think is that playing well early in the game player can survive further in the game because the difficult parts later are easier when all the previous enemies are already taken care of when the new enemies arrive. Because of this, the easy beginning part did not feel uninteresting chore because how well I played there also greatly impact how well I could do further in the game. It was additionally a good thing that the game become challenging quickly because keeping the playtime short makes it more likely that the player wants to try the game again.
  • After dying the game always prompts the me if I want to submit my score or not. This felt unnecessary extra step between multiple attempts. I would argue that the player either wants to use the leaderboard or not but it would really not make sense that the player would want to save some attempts but not others. The leader board seems to anyway only keep track of the players best score. It would make sense that the game would just automatically update the highscore for the player each time the player gets higher result than previously.

Great work! One of the best games in this jam I've tried so far!

Please consider checking out my game if you have time at some point. I would appreciate to hear your thoughts on it and could really use a rating too.

Thanks for the review! That part of the leaderboard was a bit rushed lol, but yeah I focused more on the gameplay and visual side of things so I'm glad you liked it!
