Nice little game.  Good job using the optional mechanic as well.  The music fit in well too.  I really like the relaxing vibe.

Only point of feedback I would mention is the colors.  I'm colorblind myself and I had a hard time telling the different between the green and the yellow/orange colors.  Probably not a big deal for most people but for colorblind folks it makes it hard.

Regardless though goob job!

Thank you! That's a good point actually, in the very early stages of developing this idea I thought about also having matching symbols that corresponded to each colour display on both the collectables and character to make it more playable for people who are colourblind.

Now that the collectables are gems, I think maybe making them different shapes for each colour, e.g. all greens are triangles, all blues are diamonds etc, and then have the target shape appear on the character would perhaps help with this. I think with more time I will implement something like this in the future.

Very nice! A great example of a simple but polished game. I really liked how smooth the bug's movement was, right down to the wings flapping. The aesthetic was really relaxing and the music was a perfect fit!

The only slight problem I had was I felt like there wasn't a strong incentive to go from level to level. Since the portal to end the level is available from the start and is easily accessible, it doesn't seem like there'd be much stopping someone from just going straight for the upgrades by ending the level quickly. On the flip side, there's also nothing stopping someone from just staying on one level forever.

To balance this, perhaps some kind of stakes or added feature. Maybe a few obstacles in the way so getting to the portal is trickier? or maybe a time limit so the level isn't endless? Something along those lines.

Good job!

Thank you, I completely agree with the portal and upgrade problems. I initially wanted the portal to only appear after a certain period of time, or after you've collected a certain number of gems on the level. Unfortunately I was having problems making the portal appear on every level correctly and I just ran out of time.

I really like the idea of having a time limit on each level though, I didn't think about that.

Nice idea and visual style :)

If you go continuously to portal for health restore, you just can't lose. I'm not sure if that was intentional... Aside from that, I liked it.

Developer

Thank you, I agree the health restore is a bit game breaking. I wanted some way to gain a little bit of health back, but as it's so easily accessible at any time in the game it maybe makes it too easy.

Maybe have portal appear only when some amount of crystals has been collected or time passed? That would prevent upgrade spamming.

Developer

I originally planned to do either one of those things, but I ran out of time unfortunately.
