Sign up now to participate in the Computer Science Club's First Game Jam!

Work independently or in teams to create a video game from scratch!

This is a great experience for writers, programmers, game developers, artists, and hobbyists alike!

The theme will be voted on by our community and announced during our opening ceremony.

Voting is open until March 26 at 3 PM! See our club's LinkTree for the link to the ballot (check your classes' Canvas announcements).

The Details

Who can enter? Students enrolled in at least one unit from Santa Barbara City College.

What can I use to make my game? Anything! Consider submitting a browser game so others can play it. The Computer Science Club hosted an Introduction to Unity workshop, and the recording is posted in their Slack. Feel free to use that as a jumping off point if you've never developed a game before!

What assets can I use? Any assets, art, music, etc. that you have the legal right to use.

Who will judge the games? Those who submit games can vote on them, as well as club officers!

What will the games be judged on? Overall entertainment, creativity, and presentation.

Are there prizes? Bragging rights, a club t-shirt, and you get to choose an emote to add to our Slack/Discord! There are 3 categories for winners: Officer Pick, Community Pick, and Best Themed Game.

  • Officer Pick: the winner of this category is chosen by the club officers (who aren't participating) and club advisor.
  • Community Pick: Once you submit your game, you will have the ability to rank the other submissions out of 5 starts. The game with the highest rank wins this category.
  • Best Themed Game: the winner for this category has a game that matched the theme the best! The theme will be announced at the start of the game jam.
