Hey there! First of all, sorry about the issues you seem to be having! It sucks when a jam game doesn’t go according to plan, and I’m sure you put a lot of care and effort into making this game!

That being said, I didn’t actually run into any issues when running the game, so I was able to play it properly. I enjoyed playing this game! The gameplay loop is simple, but very fun and relaxing. I didn’t think I would have so much fun just running around collecting stuff, but after I built my first building I was quickly invested into collecting enough resources to finish the rest of the buildings. As has been mentioned elsewhere, it can be pretty difficult to make a survival game that’s actually fun to play, but I think you’ve made a pretty decent survival game here!

The island itself is really cool, and a lot of fun to explore. Personally I think it would have been cool if the buildings you build did something, but in all fairness that may have been out of scope for a jam game.

All in all this was a fun little game that I enjoyed playing! Thanks for sharing this!

Unfortunately I couldn't play this, although unlike everyone else I think it was my drivers, which I can't update. (I have to use a command-line hack now to play Godot games made in the latest version of the engine because of similar problems.)

Uncaught exception thrown in Thread[jME3 Main,5,main]

RendererException: compile error in: ShaderSource[name=ShaderBlow/Shaders/LightBlow/LightBlow.frag, defines, type=Fragment, language=GLSL100]

Fragment shader failed to compile with the following errors:

ERROR: error(#272) Implicit version number 110 not supported by GL3 forward compatible context

ERROR: error(#273) 1 compilation errors.  No code generated

Also, just a jam note - if you have a game-breaking problem (or any problem) and have to update a game after the submission period has closed you have to keep the original version of the game available, with the update as an alternate download.

Sorry I couldn't play it - the screenshots look great so I was intrigued. As far as I know I've also never played a game before that's been developed in the engine you used so I was curious about it.

Would love to take a look at your game, but unfortunately, even trying every permutation of settings could not get it to run successfully.

The game crashed for me (on Windows 10, 64 Bit), but attempting to run it full screen as suggested by Xelanybor seemed to help. It still took multiple launches, but it eventually worked and I was able to play further without issue. It is potentially something related to the Windows build as I tried a few attempts on Linux and had zero issues there. It would launch without fail every time!

As for the game - this is pretty neat. I found the concept of a survival game somewhat daunting, but you've made it work here. It's a good entry!

I did find it a little confusing to figure out which rocks I was meant to collect. I went toward the left at the start, but all of the rocks on that side of the island seem to be ones that you can't interact with. Perhaps a bit more distinction or some kind of indicator on what you can interact with would be helpful?

Thank you for playing my game. There was still a few pages of features I wanted to add however the time ran out.

It worked for a while for me, but started crashing again. Any way the games was very atmospheric and looked really cool, the title screen is great, setting up the experiences. Only thing I would add is a bit more feedback for the player, I played twice and both times saw my health was to low with little i could do to fix it. Other wise well done... sorry about the bug... these things happen.

Developer

Thanks for playing my game. To get more health you just need to eat some coconuts. Yes I finally tracked down what is causing the bug. I think it has to do with some thread that is going out of sync. Anyways, if anyone encounters the crash, just run the game again. It sould solve it. Sometimes run it more than once.

If there are anyone else having problems running my game, please let me know here.

I found an EXE file, but like the commenter below, I also couldn't play the game. It crashed when started.

Developer

On which OS did you try to run the game?

The game was made in java and I am using the game engine jME.

You suppose to see a screen like this when you run the exe:

Running on Windows. I did get that screen, but then when I click "Continue", it looks like it's loading in for a second, and then disappears.

Can you try to play around with the settings. Like uncheck the Gamma correction and change the resolution to something like 1280 x 720.

If that doesn't work, please can you run the game from the windowns command console and see what is the error that is printed in the console? Please send me the error if you don't mind?

I've tried various settings, but it still doesn't work. I should mention that the crashing happens after the main menu actually. After I click "start", it flashes some kind of splash screen on a black background for a moment, and then closes.

It crashed the first time I played it too, but I just ran the exe again and it worked fine. I was also running it in fullscreen, so maybe try that.

I really tried to play your game(it looks interesting), but I cannot find the exe.file or how to begin your game. Which engine are you using? I can see all your resource material, so there is a game.

On Windows download this one: sajam-win.zip

On Linux download the other one.
