I played the post jam version first (screenshots below) and then had a look at the jam version. I'm impressed with the sheer number of quality of life improvements you were able to add so quickly. They make such a difference to the experience.

Having said that, I guess I'm one of the few people who really hated the juice wobble (I dislike too much juciness in games in general), from the beginning but especially as my apartment got more complex because it would knock other pieces of furniture out of their placements. As it is, even with the vast improvement over the jam version, I still found the controls a bit janky and it was an effort placing everything so then to have things (often multiple things) knocked around really frustrated me.

I liked the decorating music but I found the loop to be too short and after a while (I probably played the post-jam version for about an hour) it got stuck in my head. Now every time I hear even just a little bit of it it starts on repeat in my head. Sometimes it just randomly pops into my head too.

The gunshot sound was really aggressive - especially coming off the Zen of decorating - and triggering (if you have PTSD - loud sounds out of nowhere can trigger a PTSD physiological reaction). I'd recommend reducing the volume, if nothing else.

I agree with others that much more could be done with the assassination mini game and there have been some good ideas so I don't have anything to add. I was much more interested in the decorating side, probably because it represented the bulk of the game, so I didn't actually give the assassination side much thought beyond being amused at the random names being paired with the random models and not liking the loud gunshot sound.

I really like the idea of different floor plans. I'd like to request some rugs and bookshelves too, please, if they're somewhere in your furniture pack.

This was a pretty interesting concept. Decorating had a polished feel.

My intuition was to immediately start picking up spawned objects before closing the menu. Kept having to close back the menu first. Would have been cool if the menu automatically closed when I started clicking on objects.

Loving the punny name, and the return of some classic elements from your previous game, Nyumbani!

It is an interesting concept: What does the Hitman do when he’s not on the job? Clearly he’s got some opinions on furniture and layouts!

I agree with others that it would’ve added a welcome bit of complexity by making you either guess who the victim is, or just having the t-posing peeps move about, but having the screen black already adds a good bit of “hunting” feel, which worked well!

The game (jam version) unfortunately lagged severely on the M1 MacBook Pro I was playing it on, so I ended up just finishing lots of contracts, and then buying lots of things at once, but I think the physics simulations between the objects were my undoing.

I think it would be a nice twist if you flip the concept, and the reason you’re decorating houses is that there are two types of contracts: Killing or Interior Decorating, and you’re simply doing whatever you can to make a living!

Nice job, this was a cool take on the theme!🥷

We were having a lot of fun playing this! I like the contract mechanic but it may just be opposite of the theme xD. Still enjoyed building, however, I ran out of money to buy contracts - I don't think paying for contracts should be in the game. Also, if the people had animations and moved around making it a bit harder to shoot the right person could be a cool mechanic. Also, didn't like how moving one object would knock others xD. Overall though, really cute and there are some awesome designs and models in the game, I'm not the best interior decorator but you can let me know how I did :D

Thanks for your feedback and your screenshot! I'm impressed you got the arcade machine, well done!

We figured that far away contracts should cost a bit because you'd have to pay for plane tickets, accommodation and sniper gear, but hadn't really figured out how to prevent the player from running out of money completely.  Some contracts in short distance having no cost would probably fix that.

I'm actually working on another polish version with moving characters, but for that to work I also need to make a mission timer expire and return without profit, which I haven't found time for yet. I'm sure I'll get an update out in a few weeks!

I am scared to admit how long it took me to position the fridge next to the kitchen counters. One of them would slip and wobble the other out of position, and then I kept dropping them back into the wrong spot and... oh god. It's like the PTSD of moving flats, but in an entirely different flavour. xD

This is a very neat idea and a great entry! I had fun trying to get things to behave the way I wanted them to!

I also gave the Extra Juice version a bash, and I love the improvements! It's amazing what some extra sounds, movement and transitions can do. It's a lovely layer of polish!

Hey, thanks for playing and your lovely feedback, and special thanks for posting a screenshot!  Its so fun to see how people interpret a living space differently.

We had too much fun making this, so we kept updating the build.

Added sound effects, tweens, fading music out, screen fades, animated the characters with idle and death and added an exit menu for The Giant! Now its time for some serious playtesting to really finetune that balance.

Please post screenshots of your favorite creation and let us know what you think of the suspicion mechanic!

Loved the name ;D

It's a really fun-to-play game and both parts were smooth and easy to play with (I really liked the wobble physics). Plus,  there's alot of stuff you can do post-jam since it's such a fun (and funny) concept.

Developer

Thank you! I've had a hard time getting myself to stop adding polish and features here and there, and am planning on adding at least one more version with refined sniper mini game.

This entry I enjoyed a lot. Reason is because I am a creative person who likes to build stuff.

This game tickled that itch. Well done on the game and combine 2 tipes of gameplay mechanics.

Just a side note, one thing that irritated me was that I was unable to quit the game, so I had to kill the process.

Developer

Thank you for playing! I know that feeling, so for the latest edition I added an exit menu, dedicated to you!

Very interesting concept, the wobbly when placing stuff is really satisfying.

Well done and good luck with the jam :)

Developer

Thanks so much! Good luck to you too

Yeah so uh... One of the bunk beds I bought fell of the map. I'd like a refund, please XD.

Developer

🤣 Thank you for playing!

Yes, I do have a lovely furnished home with a gym and the best accessories , but at what cost?! :P

Didn't play for very long but I like the concept. There is a lot of design space to play with in the sniping section as well. Moving targets. Decoys. Timed shots for performance bonusses. Dual targets. Lot's of space to play with.

I also enjoyed the juxtaposition of the tranquil home planner vs contract killer. Not something I expected, but I did enjoy it.

Thank you so much for playing and your feedback!
Its true that the sniper mini game got the least amount of love and we're hoping to jazz it up a bit post jam.
Glad that juxtaposition came through. Hitmen are people too and work is just work after all :P

First off, love the title of the game.

There's a lot of choices, and I had fun going through all the options for the purchases. I eventually got into the habit of just doing a bunch of contracts in a row until I had a bunch of money, and then making some purchases. Not sure if there was supposed to be some mechanism that would drive me to evenly spend time between contracts and purchases.

I see in the screenshots that there appears to be some kind of progression, but it didn't seem obvious how to do that; or at least, I couldn't figure out how to make it happen.

I don't know if this was deliberate, but the way the placements worked, I had to essentially pick up and drop things multiple times to get them on the right spot because of the camera angle. A placement indicator might have been helpful here.

Otherwise, this felt pretty good to play. I liked the combination of sort of cosy game combined with an assassin game, though I'd have liked to see some more mechanics for the contracts (e.g. even something simple like getting a description in the contract and having to find the right person, rather than just having them marked eagle vision style).

Haha we were arguing over the title (I wanted IKILLYA) and Sugar won, so credit goes to him 😅

We only got the systems in and didn't get the chance to properly balance (the Mac build is slightly better balanced) so in the jam version its likely you don't get to the suspicion alert level. We'll make sure to put an updated build up with a better experience in a few days. It basically just erases all your furniture at the moment because you're forced to move - later on we were thinking you could choose between different size and style floorplans as you move.

The placement being finnicky was deliberate, but I agree, projecting the placement location on the floor would improve the experience a lot.

I love your suggestions for improving the sniper mini game, super keen to try putting those in!

Thanks so much for playing and your kind words! ❤️
