I forgot to leave a comment to say that I did try to play the game but got a "missing components" error, unfortunately (Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime and DirectX Runtime), and I didn't want to mess with my system and try and install them.
Nice, I think you managed to capture some of the nostalgia from the Sims 1 building element you were going for, though I definitely think that is a very systems-heavy concept to attempt for a Game Jam!
I think a slightly more intuitive approach would be to have a grid/drawer with different object types, and scrolling only rotated the selected element at any point in time.
Good job on your submission!
Glad to know the inspiration properly showed. Yeah I for sure bit off more that I can chew, but it was fun to work on, so I'm happy with the result. I was planning on having drawers with all of the assets for each of the object types, but left the UI for last, and it ended up being one of the things I had to scrap at the end.
Thanks :)
This was cool. Some music would have really brought this home and added to the immersion.
Control were intuitive. Decent game for a jam! Could see myself enjoying this as a casual indie builder, maybe with the addition of a little storyline to add to the atmosphere.
This is a very neat home maker, and I'm impressed you got as much done as you did within just 48 hours! Good entry and good luck!
The controls were pretty good, and I liked that you could build the walls as well, and thus control the shape of the house as a whole.
I had a bit of trouble seeing the furniture I was placing, partially due to the zoom level (would have liked camera movement) and partially due to the heavy green colouring, I think? I think camera movement in general would have been a really nice addition (though I know you noted that you ran out of time, and this is a 48 hour submission).
The game is really relaxing and the controls are intutative and smooth to use! The only suggestion I'd make for a future iteration would be a reset and/or delete button so that the player can change things up if they want to.
Well done, really shows your technical capabilities, I can imagine this was tough to get out in 48 hours. Works really well, really shows a lot of potential... Good luck with the Jam :)
