Fishing mechanic is unclear as others have said, movement of character with the busy texture on the ground was hard on my eyes. Also found reel sound glitched on loop at one point. Novel Idea it just didn't hit for me.

Developer

thank you. I should’ve added it in game, I gave the hint in the description.

The retro look of the game is very appealing, the fishing mechanic is a bit unclear and could use some work, but overall a nice game.

Developer

Yes wish I had spent more time on UI and maybe I still can, but basically you have a timing window to hit space when the progress bar is green.

Well, I caught fish but i'm still not sure of the catch condition. There was also a bug where i kept hearing the reeling sounds even after pulling in the fish. The idea of feeding dragons caught me offguard, that was a nice twist as i tried to attack it first lol. However the fishing minigame itself was not very enjoyable to me

Developer

Thank you for the feedback. As for catching the fish you have a timing window to hit space when the progress bar is green.

Not sure if intended but the name, "Fishing for Dragons", had me misdirected. I thought i was going to be catching dragons, not catching fish in service of dragons. I like it.

As for the gameplay, I'm really not certain what i was expected to do for the fishing element. I eventually figured out the red and blue dragons as well as the purple fish, that was clever using the color theory to show the fish could go to either dragon. I think had the dragon itself been the color it wanted, it may have worked a bit more clearly. I think overall the biggest feeling I got was frustration at walking so slowly between the POIs. This could work well as a minigame along the lines of a Mario Party type of event if you trimmed everything down, perhaps even cut out the walking entirely so the whole loop is "Catch a fish, feed it to the right dragon; or make a choice if you get a purple one."

I'll also add that i really enjoyed the music and sounds. All was pleasant and well done!

yes the plan was to add boots you could catch as power up to temporarily increase walk speed.

The Best Part of this game for me is the Sound Design. Music and Sounds fit very well. I liked that i knew without any tutorial what to do pretty quick. What i didnt like was that there was no goal or progress, I would like to do stuff with the coins i earn.

Yes if i work on the game more in the future I would add a store. Right now its basic a beat the pass score attempt type game.
