Description
Used a Focusrite Scarlett to record myself on keyboard and guitar. Composing the blues solo on the guitar was pretty challenging, I like some of it, but the rythm can feel a bit monotone..
I arranged and mixed using FL Studio 20.
Anyway, thanks for listening, feel free to give any feedback, alyways happy to learn :D

Nice cover! This song is so beautiful.
I have to agree with the other users that your piece is more on the rock side. Try to use more the blues scale (pentatonic minor + b5). Also, try to include more dynamic movement and phrase variation in the other instruments. Song stalls after a while because of that.
Lastly, guitars are a bit out of tune. You can notice that especially in the duo part. Watch out with what and with approaching the right note when doing bends.
This is really impressive that you recorded all of this. That human element in the playing adds so much musicality and depth that samples almost always fall short on. I love the solo! This and the guitar duet works so well over the somber piano. Great work and thank you for sharing!
This is nice! I used to listen to (but still like) some blues music (or close to it), and this is really nice and very different from the original!
I was extremely intrigued when I saw this. I have no idea how I would feel if I was in a public space and heard this in the background, even as a blues/rock arrangement, haha!
I love love love the riffing on the guitar! The melody is so simple that it's definitely one that you could play with for days. Definitely would love to hear you do a version of this with real players if you ever got the opportunity.
Nice arrangement! Very creative!!
Super solid idea. I think like a previous commenter mentioned, this would totally fit as a metallica-esque piece imo.
What you've done here is great, the quality of the recordings are top notch, and it sounds very well mixed. If I had to provide one point of criticism, it's that it feels like it's building towards something that only partially gets started. What i mean is, near the beginning there are a couple times where you have some drum fills, and my body was expecting to move into a more intense part, if that makes sense.
Great work on the solo as well.
Great entry!
Heh! I had to check this one out since I did my own imagining of a couple Tolkien songs and Rains of Castamere was something I had in the back of my mind as a sort of litmus test for what makes a solid song in terms of structure and the like.
I'd say this is maybe less blues and more rock.
That said, I actually like where it's going regardless, and it's probably easier to adapt it to rock. To continue on with this project, I'd really lean into the "weeping guitar" upper register, and maybe slow the tempo just a bit so that it still retains its emotional overtone of being a sad song.
I think "Nothing Else Matters" by Metallica would be a good comparison song to draw some inspiration from in terms of making something that still hits hard regardless of the genre change.
Good work.
:)
Yeah, it might feel like an in-between rock/blues. That would be more linked to the arranging part I would say. I should probably have put less background tracks and make the rythm more impactful. Maybe some more reverb would have help.
Anyway, more lessons for my next work :D

I think overall you got it going in the right direction, but yeah I think for a blues version I'd like the rhythm to have a bit more real feel to it, and this felt a little bit too stiff. Even still, nice job!!
i agree
Yeah, it certainly lacks some variation on the melody and rythm, especially at the end I would say.
Thanks for listening and your feedback !
