Punishing but fun platformer! Really makes you get sucked into trying and trying again, just like it should! The only issue i had was sometimes when I spawned in a level, the flamethrower noise was active but there weren't any flames on the screen. (Still killed you though.) But that really didn't present much of an issue!
Hard mode inspired me to add an additional star to "Fun." I got pretty far but my wrist genuinely started hurting lol. Wish I had more notes for you. Good work!
Normal mode is a good way to get used to the controls, and then hard mode becomes a delightfully evil precision platformer in the vein of Super Meat Boy. I like how it remixes the levels, turning the huge stretches of empty space they once had into lethally unsafe ground. The short level length and tight controls make what would otherwise be a frustrating game fun to master, and the very small sprites, while they'd be hard to see on an actual Game Boy, also remove the issue of screen crunch common in many platformers of the era. I was originally going to give you a 2 for sound due to the lack of background music, but hard mode made me bump it up to a 3 — the grim 8-bit ambience in the background is oddly fitting for watching a cute blob die a thousand and one deaths through being impaled on spikes.
love the visual aesthetic, also really like how snappy it is, dying a bunch isn't frustrating because of how quickly you respawn and how fair the level design/controls feel. it's very fun, almost like addicting to play. hard mode is really hard, i couldn't make it past the second level!
fun! hard mode seems insane lol
that was nice, I'm always in the mood for a good platforming experience. just needs some work graphic-wise.
Nice little game, like if super-meat-boy-esque platformers had existed in the gameboy era. The visual presentation left me a little confused at times, I kept mistaking the flamethrowers for springs and accidentally torching myself. I also thought the audio mixing was off, the SFX were annoyingly loud and the music was too quiet.
All that said, I did beat the game (on normal mode, is hard mode even possible??? I'd love to see a video playthrough of that), and had a good time, so good job!
Some things might be improved after the raiting period is over. Thanks for your review!
I loved the audio design! The sounds when the character jumps and uses the springboards were pure ear candy for Gameboy fans
Was pretty cool! My only concern was that it was a little hard to tell where the exit was sometimes. I feel like I saw a secret exit even on one of the levels, but I didn't see any way to get to it.
This was just a decoration. Sorry i confused you!
perfect look and feel.. fun game. nice little world
