Just insanely good. The best of the best. La Creme de la creme.

This RULES! I have played and rated 40+ jam games so far this week, and this is the first game I have given 5 stars in every category. The game is addictive and satisfying! The SFX is punchy, and the controls are buttery-smooth! I get the feeling that this one will be in constant rotation for me for a while!

Thank you so much! Reading this made me really happy :D We'll keep working on it after the jam ends, and hopefully turn it into a more fleshed out roguelike (still free of course). I can let you know when we're done if you want!

Please do! I will keep an eye out, (and would gladly pay for a commercial release if you go in that direction!)

Really nice job creating a fun game you can jump right into! I appreciated the save function to keep the momentum up which is something this game does great. The pixel art is great and retro and the music is also stellar. The gameplay is succinct but equally as fun!

This game was awesome! The corrupted files are a clever way to fit the theme while still not making the game to easy. It's so cool to return to the old rooms with loads of new gear to absolutely destroy them. Having like 5 guns at the same time is also a cool mechanic which fits the main mechanics very well. If I would have some gripes it would be that it feels a bit unfair to get hit right after leveling up since you cant see  what's about to hit you and the players bullets and enemy bullets can be hard to differentiate in the midst of action.

Overall a great entry and one of my favorites so far :)

I'm glad you liked it! I completely agree with you, especially at the boss stage since you get tons of upgrades and it's a bit bullet helly, so it's hard to dodge when you're constantly interrupted by upgrades. I'll take that into account when finishing up a web build, thanks for your feedback!

Overall pretty solid. I don't feel that the "corrupting" of save files instead of just having lives really plays into the permanence theme well though.

Developer

The idea was a roguelike where the upgrades that you get are permanent, but if that's the case then getting to the end was inevitable, which is why I thought about a timer that forces you to play fast... Eventually we stirred in the "losing saves" idea. At the moment I didn't think of it, but after making it, yeah it loses a bit of theme relevance. Thanks for playing!

Had a lot of fun with this game, I loved the "lives" system that was implemented. Got to level 10 and found that the enemies were getting very tanky, I definitely should have invested a little into invuln!

Developer

Enemies DO get tanky. Ideally I would've made them harder or in bigger packs, but I was running out of time and still had a boss battle to code. Glad you still liked the game!

Pretty fun, but the core progression seems hinged on an inability to complete the second or third floor without dying at least once to boost your starting level/stats. Something that felt out of balance was the base speed of the player and the duration of invincibility after being hit. I found the basic skeletons really difficult to avoid during the first file/first few floors. The music and art are very enjoyable though, and I especially liked that you could just keep stacking gun types and not lose out on what you're already using, that added a lot of fun! It's a cool concept worth exploring more of.

Hey! Thanks for playing :D. It's actually not impossible to beat the game on the first attempt after getting used to the enemies (and realizing that the bazooka is overpowered) but yeah it's intentionally really hard so people lose on their first attempts. Getting the game balanced is something I only got to do on the last day so it's definitely not its strongest poing. Glad you liked it nonetheless!
